Vodafone will offer 80GB per month on 100/20 UFB for $80. In addition, if your parents got home phone wireless on an account, then there would be a $10 discount, making $70/month.

Could you please explain that a bit more. The 80GB 100/20 UFB would suit them to a T (it would take years before 80GB wouldn't be enough for them because they don't spend massive amounts of time on the Internet).

So basically I can see how it would cost them $71/month but that is with no landline #. By "home phone wireless" is that like VOIP? So they'd need to buy a special phone for that right?

It's not VoIP, it's the same technology as a mobile phone, but in the shape of a cordless phone. You will need to buy special hardware from Vodafone for it.

My sister is in a similar boat. She wants broadband (80GB would be ample) but needs to keep her existing landline and would like to stay on copper as fibre would be overkill for her. Flip would be perfect, but she can't get it in Greymouth (any idea why?) Otherwise, any other suggestions?
