Apsattv:

Check in Windows 7

Go in Network connections

Right click local area connection

Click status? see if if I.P V6 is connected

If not go to properties and tick Internet Protocol version 6 (TCP i.p v6) you can leave TCP V4 also ticked

If using google dns be sure to add

Replace those addresses with the IP addresses of the Google DNS servers:

For IPv4: 8.8.8.8 and/or 8.8.4.4.

For IPv6: 2001:4860:4860::8888 and/or 2001:4860:4860::8844.

Need to know how to do that in Mac OSX. The Network Prefs just say "Configure IPv6" then there is a box you can choose Manually, Automatic or Link-local Only.

That's funny - yesterday I noticed that DNS resolution takes unexpectedly longer than before and after some research I found that the ipv6 dns times out, and it takes about 2 RTTS for ipv4 to jump in.

So I had to disable the whole ipv6 in the OS network options.

There is a thread about the IPv6 change over on the Vodafone forums: https://community.vodafone.co.nz/t5/Broadband-services/IPv6-and-Vodafone-broadband/m-p/205348

I had a similar DNS timeout issue to zerkms. The workaround was to disable IPv6 on the modem.

appreciate the spotting, have directed my question about the configuration side over there too.

Suspect v6 timeouts will come down to being all part of rfc1981 not quite working correctly on your router.

No luck for me.  I'm on VDSL in Woodend Beach but IPv6 just shows "Connecting" when I use the VF supplied HG659.  Tried setting IPv6 addressing type to SLAAC or DHCP and neither works, also tried connection type as both PPP or IP, no dice either way.

Sad face... frown

to my understanding the setup is DHCP so IP (not dhcp6 over PPPoE) but no vodafone staff have confirmed this yet.

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

Yeah I left it on connection type IP for a while just to give it a chance before also trying PPP. I get an IPv4 connection immediately in both cases, but IPv6 just won't come up (regardless of choosing SLAAC or DHCP for IPv6 addressing - tried both addressing options with both connection types.)

in my case sadly on IP i cant get an public IPv4 at all, getting that through to csrs is like pushing sh!t up hill.

i too have tried multiple paths of getting a v6 session up, i have a few dummy interfaces testing for it currently...

Once I get my v6 online, will map a elk stack to monitoring my dhcpv6status.

Vodafone's ipv4 DNS does not fail me often, I do gracefully fullback to their backup and google in the worst case however.

My HG659 router shows that it has a IPv6 address and DNS servers, but my wireless network adapter shows "No Internet access" for IPv6. The properties for IPv6 protocol are set to automatically obtain the address.

I've updated my wireless network adapter driver to the latest version.

Anything else I should check.

Anyone know if VF UFB IPv6 is fully live in Wellington?

HG659 is currently sitting on 'Connecting' so I presume not.
