Just got onto Geekzone today and saw the IPv6 logo in the corner so I investigated naturally and I do seem to be connected over IPv6 and I'm pretty sure I wasn't before. I haven't seen anything on the forum about it so I figured why not post eh. On Vodafone fibre in the North Shore.

Seems to only be connectable over IPoE, atleast testing on my line this now nets a your connection is not configured screen.

the same session running a PPPoE session overtop with proper auth details connects up perfectly.

Interesting to see vodafones dhcp setup, used to run it over my connection but PPPoE served a fair bit more stable.

@freitasm happen to have details from vodafone themselves yet?

The ipv6 has been there for months for me. Vodafone fibre in Nelson..

Noticed it on Geekzone and thought it was something they had done at their end

IPV6 just shows as "connecting" on my VDSL. Never connects.

further testing into this, it seems the port authentication used for IPoE (DHCP) is no-longer possible for adsl despite physically being still euba vlan 10.

@geektastic would be interesting to know if your connection is setup for IPoE or PPPoE. Vodafone themselves recommend IPoE for vdsl now.

Although suspect digging straight down to the technical reasons for not touching PPPoA in first place went way over the head of the csrs i spoke to..

@MikeHales any official word on v6 from vodafone?

appreciate it, even if its simply more clear details on the technical setup to it.

I would dig it out of the vodafone router, but last one we were sent was the old 604T! it doesn't quite have the profiles to look into.

Check in Windows 7

Go in Network connections

Right click local area connection

Click status? see if if I.P V6 is connected

If not go to properties and tick Internet Protocol version 6 (TCP i.p v6) you can leave TCP V4 also ticked

If using google dns be sure to add

Replace those addresses with the IP addresses of the Google DNS servers:

For IPv4: 8.8.8.8 and/or 8.8.4.4.

For IPv6: 2001:4860:4860::8888 and/or 2001:4860:4860::8844.

Received a reply to my query to Vodafone:

We are offering IPv6 to most of our fixed line customers, with it available now to all of our UFB and VDSL customers, and some of our ADSL customers. IPv6 will be available on the FibreX network soon.

Customers don’t need to do anything to use IPv6 – those with an IPv6 capable router, such as our standard Huawei HG659, will receive both an IPv4 and an IPv6 address, known as ‘dual-stack’. They shouldn’t see any difference in their browsing experience – sites that can use IPv6 will (such as Facebook, Google and Netflix), other sites will remain on IPv4.
