High speed wont make any difference when browsing geekzone....
I am curious as to what you need 1Gb speeds for?
1Gb is irrelevent for anything off shore. I only went to 200/20 plan cause it was cheaper than the current 100/10.
You are all missing the point, and as usual trying to blame the user. My point is, on 100/10Mb/s I paid less and got the advertised speeds 100% of the time, yes, that's right 99% of the time, I was never effected by congestion or anything. Now, Vodafone advertises a UPGRADE in my area, they sign me up for this UPGRADE and I pay a little more, yet my connection is worse apart from one certain speed test server that I am suppose to speed test to. The day of the UPGRADE I was getting constant 100/10Mb/s and the expected download speeds on Steam, Origin, uplay and P2P. Then in the arvo I get the UPGRADE installed and although one Speed test server shows good results everything else is worse. I ask the tech if this is normal, he checks his work and then does a speed test to the server he was told to use, he tells me that only results from this server are valid to Vodafone, it gives a acceptable result. Couple days later I start seeing results I would expect, Steam downloading at 55Mb/s and Origin at 60Mb/s. Everything was working as it should mostly. Then days later thing started getting worse and worse and right now I am downloading on Steam and 440 KB/s. Some days it's average, other days its terrible, and I do shift work so this is at all times of the day. As for the reason why I opted for a Gigabyte plan, the reason is none of your business and it does not matter.
TLDR - Cheaper 100/10Mb/s outperforms the more expensive 1000/100Mb/s. Why I opted for Gigabyte? Because reasons.
An Analogy with Water
Dad is having a shower, the water pressure is good and the water is nice and warm.
Mum puts the washing machine on.
Ooops the water pressure is down a bit and it is a bit colder but not bad.
Junior flushes the Toilet.
Aaaagh now the water pressure is stuffed and it is too damn hot!
The Fix
Wait for the Toilet cistern to refill. (or turn it off)
Stop the washing machine. Mum may complain though.
The Permanent Fix
Put in bigger water pipes at home.
Put in a bigger Water Mains. (Backhaul)
The Downside
The owner would have to pay for a bigger pipe into the house and the bigger connection to the Water Main.
Someone has to pay for all that bigger Water Main (Backhaul) work.
Ah ha, Put everyones Water charges up.
The Alternative
Have a shower early in the morning before Junior gets up or Mum puts on the Washing Machine.

I use the water at all times of the day, the water is always cold. Before I put in new bigger pipes my smaller pipes always put out hot water! New big pipes with a bigger and better heating hot water tank = Colder Water. Small pipes and smaller and less efficent tank = Hotter water. The water was hotter and in better supply with the old water setup. Seriously, I'm not quite sure how else to put it to you! When you pay for bigger and better, you should not receive less!!!!!!!!!! Jesus.
Is this the Vodafone defense force or something? If you lot were having the same issues as me, I bet you would be moaning too. I wonder if I go through the 200 pages of "Krapi Cable" thread if I'll find any of you V.D.F (Vodafone Defense Force) complaining about slow speeds?
PS. Jedsdad, a quick look at your profile shows you started a thread complaining about speed test results also, soooooo yeah.

I guess the crux of the matter is that you continue to complain about something here expecting what?...we cant fix it....and yet you havnt logged a ticket?

Only Vodafone can answer this. There could be a config error with your profile, they may have a finite amount of bandwidth for users on that plan - who knows. I agree, common sense says that a plan with increased local bandwidth should perform at least equally well as the lower bandwidth plan, all other factors being equal.
Whether or not Gb/s throughput is seen is a whole different story, for the reasons already well documented above.
Ask Vodafone through the formal support channel(s), anything else is speculation.

Thank you, you at least get my point.

Is this not a Vodafone Forum? I have seen plenty of Vodafone reps use these forums, and I have logged tickets in the past with Vodafone's incompetent support many times and all I ever get it, restart your modem, restart your computer, only a couple of months ago I was told I should try reinstalling Windows!
Scotty1986:
Jase2985:
@Scotty1986 have you called and logged a fault? if not why not?
if you have, what have they said?
moaning on a forum doesnt usually get you very far unless that ISP has a reasonable presence on there, and on this forum Vodafone do not due to various reasons
Haha log a fault with Vodafone support!? Please..... That's a joke right? I have a better chance of my cat fixing Cable issues than Vodafone support. I have been with Vodafone long enough to know not to waste my time with Vodafone support. In the past, I have received far better support here. Also, It's good to gauge how many other's are having issues, and from ready a couple topics on these forums there is a fair share of them.
No its not a joke, as to a normal person it would be the first port of call when they have a fault.
and obviously not going by how long you have been complaining about it on here and nothing happening. seems like the reps here are being real helpful.
you can keep posting your repetitive posts on here which apear to have achieved nothing or you can atually follow the proper support channels and call and log a fault.
you are the only one on here that i have seen that has been having repetitive issues.
I'm no VDF mate, just a realist.
And yes I did complain about speedtest results, note though my main issue was about the results from overseas.
However I understand the issues as I was in the telecom business for many years
You cannot expect to get full bandwidth at all times 24*7 unless you are prepared to pay a lot more.
Just imagine if you were 1 of 1000 people trying to download from Steam or Hastings (LOL) all at the same time how big the infrastructure would need to be if everyone expected the same as you, and that infrastructure in the case of Steam also includes the overseas component in competition with the rest of the world.
I think you should try running the tests in the morning, the earlier the better and see what the difference is.
You may even have to wait until school holidays are over or at least when those overseas particularly in the Northern Hemisphere return from the mid winter breaks
Also as others have suggested log a fault with Vodafone

You're right we would be moaning. But the fact you seem to be the only Vodafone customer complaining vs a good 100+ complaining about general cable issues when they were occurring suggests any issues could well be isolated to you.
Have many different PC's have you tried? I haven't seen you post this. Issues such as what you're seeing could easily be PC device related.
How many browsers have you tried? I haven't seen you post this.Issues such as what you're seeing could easily be browser related.
What router are you using? I don't recall seeing this either.
speedtest.net can deliver highly variable results and once you start getting above even 200Mbps the results you'll get in different browsers and PC's can vary significantly. What results do you get using the official speedtest.net app under Windows 10 vs using your browser?

Is this not a Vodafone Forum?
It is a forum to discuss Vodafone and related issues, however it is not a formal Vodafone support channel. Some Vodafone staff do participate, but often in their own time, and probably less so at this time of year.
Given your issue seems to be that a plan with higher bandwidth doesn't perform as well as a plan with lower bandwidth over the same technology from the same provider, then the provider (in this case Vodafone) really needs to be contacted. First step should be to lodge a formal support ticket/request.
