Could you guys just stop for a moment and wait for when they announce it please?

There is a good reasoning behind the plan and it sounded good to me.

There will be no packet inspection or throttling. Just a good plan that will try to even out the bandwidth usage.

So now please just sit and wait. I just see people complaining about it without even knowing what's coming. Sheesh...

Johnr, I sort of agree with you comment, I was looking at it differently, as in their competitors could win if they knew about it so don't say anything, but I do take you point of board that it is different

Very good point Hpj2007, we do pay for our GB's so it should be up to us what we download

If the solution takes say 3 months to implement, then not saying what it is gives them 3 months headstart compared to their competition.  Now they will loose nothing for giving out only an expected due date (which I agree would be nice), but they will loose out by saying how they will fix it.

They can buy more bandwidth, but it will just get used up again.  There does come a point where they simply can not continue increasing bandwidth for only a couple of hours per day.  In the past they have asked that people set bit torrents to after midnight, which strongly suggest that that is what the problem is about.

People with issues on the left, XNET cheerleaders on the right.

Break down of the post:

Last three months XNET International traffic has been bad
Why?  XNET over-subscribed
Users paying for a service they are not getting
No timeframe given for fix

Responses:

I talked to a guy and something to fix it is just around the corner.  Stop complaining.  Sheesh.
They shouldn't give a timeframe as it may be used against them by competitives

When they fix things and have it running sweet then yes - bells from the rooftops, praise Jeebus and all that jazz.  But until then it is totally appropriate for people to complain.  Complaining is a very valuable resource for Xnet - it gives them customer feedback.

That's my 2c.  I know where I stand!

I find it quite amusing the point that not making the solution public is to prevent competitiors finding out and gaining advantage.  Well guess what, if there is no solution / resolution date then customers will start going to competitiors regardless.

Anyway I am going to stop posting on this matter now and hope for the best.   Atleast we know there is a solution coming.

I am not a cheerleader for any company. You got it wrong.

johnw230873: I ask, what do other companys have to benift if xnet can tell us when they are fixing there problem ?

Lurch, would you perfer knowing or no knowing when the problem would be fixed as you are with another provider ?

The hardware bit was an example nothing more

In my case would be great to know what was happening if/when it would be fixed or even what the issue is as I am wanting to switch to another ISP in a month or so and have been looking at Naked DSL options.

If I was a customer of Xnet it would be great if they were straight up with me and informed me of what was happening if they did this then I would probably remain a customer with them. I appreciate an ISP that is straight up and honest. Companies like that are hard to come by and when I find one I tend to be a very loyal customer.

As was mentioned earlier they would loose nothing by giving their customers a ressolution date, they dont need to mention what the issue is or the fix just a date at which it will be all up and running.

3 months and no satement just rumors is going to loose any company a lot of customers. (Maybe thats what they want?) The strange thing about all this is xnet is usually up front with issues so why the change in this case?

The old saying... 1 customer with a bad experience tells 10 of their friends...

I think the point has now been put across

Neil, a lot of us here work in fast moving IT and Retail sectors so we know how long it take to implement large solutions and what to tell our competitors. As for shipping hardware in, we do it all the time SAN's Blades etc, 10 working days from the US and this is through customs.

To Xnet from this post you can see
Some customers are happy with your service
Some customers are very unhappy
Some customer to be, wont because of all the postings of speeds

If something is coming then maybe an email to your customers wouldn't go a miss.

I work in a large business and I don't see any point not telling us what you are thinking, I could be wrong here and you might have been bitten before.

I think we should all wait as suggested by Mauricio but I should expect this announcement to happen soon.

Thanks to everyone that has replied

I love the argument that everyone pays the same for their traffic so why can’t xnet just throw more bandwidth at the problem to make it go away…. Sounds good right?

Wrong…  Xnet are not buying bandwidth by the Gig, they can’t go to their upstream providers and ask for more bandwidth only during these times please! It does not work like that. I’m sure there will be someone here who can inform us of what carrier grade international bandwidth is worth. All I know is its not cheap! There comes a point where their bandwidth is being so underutilized at some times of the day and so over utilized at others that adding more bandwidth is going to cause them to bleed.

If the heavy users of p2p were somehow encouraged to use bandwidth during the non –peak times we would all be happy boys and girls. I expect Xnet are working on some sort of solution maybe those of us that are heavy users would like to suggest what it would take to only run torrents after 12?

If this was the case and we knew this was the problem I would more than happy if xnet had a teared approached eg between 8am ~8pm $1per GB and 8pm~8am $.70 per GB.

Would other people be happy with this?

My view on it all is this... and Im not an Xnet user. Yet.

Theres a problem.
People have complained.
Xnet have acknowledged the issue.
They are obviously looking at a solution.
End of story.

Yes, it would be nice to be "kept in the loop" as it were, but you should be happy that at least theyve acknowledged a fault. Many companies wouldnt bother and just ignore you.

Even with their current issues, Im probably signing up with them shortly.

My 2c view on it all.

Another possibility is,  now Xnet user base is bigger
and able to switch to another carrier with better pricing!
