quickymart: I wish they would get rid of that Philippines call centre. Every time I've called them they have been quite useless (when you can get through).
That is normal in the Philippines.
The Philippines is not a telephone or internet culture. Most things require a jeepney or taxi ride into town and wait in a queue. Anything which requires a phone call one can pretty much guarantee they will be dealing with appalling and absolutely useless muppets who know nothing at all.
One of their favorite games is the never ending list of nonsense and random requirements they need to solve an issue, which often isn't even the issue you called about. They do this to try and hide the fact they are hopeless at their job and not achieving anything.
At the end of the day they will make all sorts of promises and say anything but it means absolutely nothing.
Educated Filipinos (incl. my wife) either leave or want to leave. Workers, coffee and bananas are the primary exports here.
Philippines teclcos are well practiced at pretending to be 1st world while delivering the crappiest internet in the region. Sometimes they even manage audacious irony. Of course, the below is a total lie.
