I would assume then that the use of USB -> external HD, isn't an option for recording.
Apologies for delayed reply, been away for a couple of days.
Here's a breakdown of channels and their availability by feature i.e. Live Pause, Catch Up etc.
Here's a breakdown of the icons and what they mean.
No, you can't record to a separate HD via USB.
You can watch 2 different channels on 2 devices at the same time i.e. TV and mobile and no, mobile doesn't need to be on Wi-Fi.
Here to help.

Thanks Mike.
Is the list of recordable channels likely to change anytime soon? (I guess it's some sort of licencing issue rather than a technical one?)
Fix that and implement visual cue-ing for fast forward and rewind then I'd probably sign-up, but those two are show-stoppers for me.
(Oh, and it's Bein Sports not Bien Sports.)
The Institute of Unfinished Research has concluded that 6 out of 10 people
Thanks for spotting the typo!
Re recordable channels - I don't know but will ask. Would expect it will change over time.
Cheers

Not been able to record the main channels is a real game breaker for me.
As my wife is a shift worker and does a lot of night shifts the option of going back up to 3 days isn't a option!
We have a T-box on which we could record these on and Vodafone weren't very clear in publicizing the fact that this isn't a option with the new Vodafone TV. If they had I certainly wouldn't have changed systems and to make it worse is the fact that is costing me more money for something that isn't suitable.
Come on Vodafone make a definitive announcement as to what is going to happen re the recording on theses channels and a accurate time frame for its implementation.
Cheers Paul.
That is pretty rubbish. Not being able to record the FTA (1,2,3,Bravo etc) is a deal breaker.
MikeHales:
1,2,3 are available on catch-up i.e. the recordings are available for 3 days post-broadcast.
Yep, I see that, but we record series then binge them all at once (usually fast forwarding the ads too). Coudn't do that with this.
Most of the programs we record now (with MySky) are on 1,2 or 3.
I'm same. Was really keen but...
HGTV, Bravo, Choice, Prime all have shows I record a batch and watch in mood. Currently watching a binge of "Air Crash Investigation" but last week was "Love it or List it" had recorded over last few months.
Really disappointed at this choice as rules me out and will stay with current box.

seems disapointing that such a major function on the most popular channels would be nobbled? yes great we can go to the on demand and get force fed adverts vs the traditional record and ffwd method.
I would expect its TVNZ and TV3 protecting their advertising income and the functionality of their upcoming new enhanced Freeview service.
If only the usb supported a plugin $20 usb DVBT stick for a DTT Freeview recording option...USB / archival type traditional recording of the DTT channels via a usb tuner stick via external usb drive or network device.

If they were protecting their advertising income how come I could record these on my T-box?
They are pushing as much content as they can to the ondemand service, where they can control the advertising. E.g where it can't be FFWD. There is no 4 minute addbreak jump button!

Maybe there is legal issues with recordings not being kept on equipment in peoples homes like it is with T-Box and MySkys.
Though it's strange Duke is recordable and Prime isn't, when Prime is owned by Sky and Duke is not owned by them.
The 22 Sky streamed channels available when mobile. Are they delivered via the useless Skygo setup?
