JoeBloggs: "This is not about censorship, a business with shareholders is behind this site, and the interests of the shareholders in any business must be considered a high priority."

This statement made me curious so I checked Geekzone's contact information. Mr. Freitas runs Soho Solutions, which owns and runs Geekzone. Just wondering, who do you normally recommend in any given mobile 'solution' for your clients? Vodafone or Telecom? Wink

You mean Mr. Guerchmann De Freitas.........  Please be correct Sealed...... I say no more

How is this related to the topic?

Obviously some people can't come with relevant things to say...

Posting my full name is not a problem because everyone can find it in the company office website. But posting private information for employee information such as the ones disclosed in that thread is a breach of privacy.

What Act? I thought the privacy act does not apply in that circumstance for companies?
We all found out the name of the aid to the PM who leaked the Unbundling to his friend at Telecom.

I would just add here and this is my point of view btw, that having read the initial thread it did appear to be just a way to push an individual issue , Geekzone is primarily for information and technical discussion, if the topic was related around just the billing practice for the service then thats fine, I for one would have been very interested in the billing for this service and if it was being billed for, but this wasn't aimed at technical discussion on what was happening with the service or if this was happening to others , it was purely the OP posting his legal thoughts and appeared to be skiting that the commerce commissioner investigators were going to be talking to him.

So I do feel the OP here was just pushing his own case and even and if it was part of a legal action then that is where it belongs, Paul tried to address the issue but it was obviously way past that and was past the technical discussion phase and really looked like just a way for the OP to highlight his legal issue.

I think the Mods did a good job with this, it is not often that I have seen them do this, in fact in the 2 years that I have been here I can only remember 1 other time, so they do take it very seriously and hats off to the Mods for the way they handled this.

Geekzone is for Technical discussion it's not for public interaction for Individual legal discussions between customers and Service Providers, if it was to become this you will never have any input from any Service Provider. No matter who you are there are always going to be some type of issue or problem that can't be resolved between parties and sometimes these turn legal for whatever reason but putting threads up about this is not what this place is about, it just so happens that a number of Service providers do follow our lead and contribute here (many try and many have fallen Wink)but some users think this is where Company policy is debated and decided, sorry to say it's not.

I agree with Maverick here, well done to the Mods.

I managed to read through the thread before it got taken down and it was obvious to me that the person who started the thread did not want to discuss the issue but rather just wanted to make his/her view known.

I also think Paul made a decent effort to address the issue so no blame there either.

Say what?

I had a quick look through it while it was still up, and agree with the decision to remove it.

However, that actual issue was quite interesting to me. Previously, I started a post (http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?ForumId=40&TopicId=18784) asking about application of credit card top ups to prepay accounts. The reason for this was that I topped up, went overseas for a month and a half, had limited usage of the phone on returning and suddenly found myself with a very low balance. The automated system advised that my last top up was $2, so I suspected this was the reason, however, the discussion with the Vodafone CSR advised me that the top up was $60, and it had been lowered by my usage. I did find this odd, as I was reasonably sure (but not 100%) that I had not used the phone enough to lower the balance that much, but, without any records available to me, I had to let it go.

The situation the poster stated about would have explained what I experienced, but had no evidence to prove.

While I was overseas, I used a Virgin Mobile prepay sim. The records that you have available from them allow you to track the activity and would prevent issues such as this occurring. With the current prepay setup provided by Vodafone, you have to rely on trust of Vodafone not having any issues with their billing / accounts system. I accept that this is probably run by a different department, but, their external website doesn’t exactly inspire trust in their systems.

And that's fine reporting innacuracies so others can have a heads up - as you are doing now.

The problem is when people start posting names, calling others liars and so on. When it gets nasty we delete things. It's part of our guidelines.

He got the attention he wanted - and Simon even got to complain about his $0.50 overcharge now and then...

http://www.stuff.co.nz/4609612a28.html?source=RSStech_20080707

I agree Vodafone is wrong by not fixing their billing systems - even after months of people complaining and the fiasco on their six weeks "pit stop". But still it doesn't justify flooding the forums - one post would be enough.

Anyway...
