Rickles:So, why the difference between the website programs and the stand-alone one?

 

Because running it in a browser is very inefficient, using a lot of the host's resources. It was OK on slower connections, but with faster connections, the computer becomes the bottleneck. The standalone app is far more efficient, so for the same CPU resources, you'll be able to get a higher network throughput.
