Looks like both the xnet.co.nz and wxc.co.nz domains have expired. Wow.
Where are you seeing them showing as expired (other than that page)? A whois shows they're not.
I queried the domain soon as this was posted, it was available for purchase through a few domain providers..
Was wide open for someone to squat.

Isn't there some stand down period after a domain lapses where it can only be sold to the same person before it goes to general availability, or, does this change depending on which top level domain it is?

There is, which is why i found it strange that it was wide open to purchase...
if i was devious, the temptation to teach a lesson about renewing would have been easy....
