Overclocker01: I just had alook at the iphone plans that virgin mobile in Australaia are offering and it really shows how mush of a bad deal we got in New Zealand

Yep we got screwed. If there is ever real competition in NZ in the celluar market, (3-4 independent providers) hopefully companies will be forced to charge reasonable rates more in keeping with overseas pricing.

Yep we got dicked alright, a real slap in the face. It just shows you that absolutely no matter how Vodafone try to explain their pricing for the iPhone plans and what reasons they give (like Rushworth and his stupid comments on Campbell Live a while back), they are just exploiting the market and taking us for a ride because they know they can, and they know that there's little we can do about it in terms of making a substantial difference to their profit.

I'm really hanging out for some more information about these plans. Anyone know anything more?

I was in a VF store last week and nothing was said or hinted at. I have to say that the service level was rather lower than I expect, however - so it may not mean anything!

I am probly gonna wait untill telecom brings out the iphone in novemeber and see what they are offering in terms of contract and upfront costs. Im pretty sure that telecom will have the iphone in its line up when it releases its new network. Apple obviously are not sticking with one carrier anymore, just look at AUS there are four carriers offering the iphone. Bring on some  damn competition in New Zealand cause at the moment we are getting screwed by Vodafone.

Would be nice to hear some offical word from the likes of Paul Brislen, so that those of us on the brink of re-signing an existing plan have some guidance.. and less frustration....  I am hanging out to buy an iphone, but dont want to find that im locked into a 2 year contract when something significantly better is released possibly a few days later!!!

You mean Paul? I am sure he knows about this thread, and if he had anything to say he would have posted.

I would doubt they would penalise those of us who signed up on day one on the new plans!!
I look forward to see what is on offer ?? If there are any changes.

When and if they do change the plans / prices I'm sure they'll write a nice letter like this to all those who signed up / purchased from them.

To all iPhone customers
