Ok so what about custom firmware, I know there are a few PPL out there that are tinkering/tweaking the open source firmware on linksys routers, will xnet allow custom firmware to be run, will there be specific guild lines like only firmware that dose not modify the voice/SIP area of code? :)

Those open source are for routers only not the all in one devices, there is no open source for those as they run a specific SIP stack within the firmware, up to you what your router runs but the VFX VOIP devices don't run open source code.

Maverick, you mentioned to me all the way back in December 2007 that a bug in .06 for wireless was being looked at by LinkSys.  This is the one where QOS is ignored for wireless networks so when my wireless PC starts a huge download at full speed the telephone line dies.

It seems a long time since LinkSys released a new firmware version and we all know they would rather put out new hardware than fix the existing systems.  Is the WAG54GP2 even a current product and if so, when are the planning on fixing these issues that they have know about since the last realease in mid 2007?

thanks

The wag54gp2 is still current, it is due to be replaced with a new device which I can not expand on yet (Sealed) but we do have it for testing though. As for the firmware updates I honestly don't know we have a number of request's in including this one when and if they release it I don't know sorry....... I wish I did Embarassed

Hi Maverick

I have definitely noticed a difference in the voice connection after going back onto the older V2.01.03 firmware.
Do you have any indication from Linksys if they will even bother releasing a new firmware fixing the DHCP issue?

If it doesn't look like they will fix this in the near future, I think I might have to return my router under warranty (again), for a refund, and maybe wait for the new router to be released.

Jason.

No I do not we don't have that kind of sway over Linksys ,
The new device is in it's final stages and is looking good, some minor things but the overall package is looking very good, I have a number of my guys running it now and they are pretty happy.... they are the hardest ones  to please Tongue out and there is a huge improvement over the wag54g from their feedback.
