Mine took 6 weeks to activate, every time I rang they said it was with the provisioning team. After 5 calls (which were on hold for ages) I got to the point of really frustrated and then requested cancelling, was put thru another department but still no luck. Apparently its really easy they just need to load your unit against your account. I find it also used to play up i.e. not work or freeze, Vodafone have credited some people. Its seems stable now but as people say you cannot record everything.

josephhinvest: Interesting reading. My dad is looking at changing from Sky (through Vodafone) to Vodafone TV. It’s slightly cheaper. I don’t know whether it would be worth the hassle. They record and keep for quite long times programmes on their mysky.
I understand some programs can’t be recorded. But which?
And it looks like programs can’t be stored indefinitely. But for how long?
And finally, does the box come with a “normal” type remote that oldies will be able to use?

If anyone can answer these I’d be very grateful.

I would have stuck with the T-Box if I'd known how limited Vodafone TV for free-to-air TV. TVNZ don't allow recording. Many movies on TV3 and Prime can't be recorded. Instead they push you to use the on-demand apps which are available on the Vodafone TV.

However, we primarily use it for Netflix and Youtube and for casting from our computers/phones so we can watch on the big screen. It has been excellent for these purposes.

I set up one of these for my uncle and it’s absolutely terrible. The interface is illogical and the remote is a nightmare to use.
If it was me, I would have returned it.

My parents got 2 of these and one major problem has them thinking of sending both back, no subtitles the devices are well over a year in service at Vodafone at this point and this is extremely annoying to my very hard of hearing parents. Like everything Vodafone does this is bloody useless. I am tempted to get in touch with Vodafone and tell them they are so sh*t they will go to another provider. People go on about how it is great the have no WiFi but that means if you have no network port you need to use their WiFi extender so an even worse solution than no WiFi in the unit imo.

Nothing forcing you to use Voda supplied wifi device. You can use a Ubiquiti Nanostation Loco for example or any device that can be configured as an infrastructure client and connected to the Ethernet interface.

Ive got vodafone TV and while im reasonably happy I have a question I'd rather ask now than buy something for it not to work.

I'm guessing you cannot chromecast the VFTV app from my phone onto another TV located away from the VFTV box?

This is an interesting thread
The guy who came out to look at our uhf aerial setup said a lot of people are ditching sky and going to Vodafone tv.

I’m hesitant because reading some posts here seems you can’t record all channels and currently we can record 2 channels while watching a third channel and seems we can’t do this on Vodafone tv
Wife is an avid Eastenders fan and watches it on uktv on sky and she won’t ditch sky unless we can find another service where she can record eastenders and watch it later

Eastenders is recordable.
There is no limit to how many programmes you can record at the same time.

Some of these shows can be viewed later within 3 days with the catch up feature.

well that's not that good - we record and watch a lot of TV1 and TV3 at a time that is more suitable to us, so if you are unable to record programs on TVNZ or TV3 it probably won't be suitable for us

Could somebody else verify this? No interlacing? No resoultions other than 1920x1080?

Our sky box mostly gets used for mtv, comedy central, and a forign language channel. All have really poor image quality. 1080p would be very nice.... (ultimatly we are subscribed for sport which looks OK.

Hi, I think that comment only refers to the highest res the box can do, as for channels that are transmitted by Sky at lower resolutions, that is fixed by Sky not Voda the box is going to upscale them to whatever res that you have the box set to output, this is no different to a Sky box, albeit a Sky box only does 50i max. Again regardless any modern digital (LCD,OLED,Plasma) is going to have to deinterlace any 50i material to 50p as they simply are not able to natively deal with interlace, if the box does this task first then the TV does not have to.

End result is in reality this box will behave just as a sky box does in respect to frame res.

The sources are delivered to VF in Mezz format from Sky. The output delivered to the VFTV STB for HD is 1920x1080p. SD content is delivered to the VFTV STB at 720x576p
