@NickR1 Are you trying to say the SIM card is TAC locked to an IMEI range of Ultra hub modems?

If the SIM card is TAC locked then putting another SIM card into the unit is fine as only the SIM card is TAC locked to an IMEI range

I believe the "don't touch the SIM card" advice was more based on the fact the device wasn't physically designed for changing SIM cards. For example if a customer was to remove the SIM card from the device, work instruction is to replace it and to not attempt reinsertion of the SIM card.

I'm unfamiliar with the provisioning side of the SIM cards.

Linux: ... pop that SIM card into the Ultra hub...

Looking at my Ultra Hub Plus, there isn't an obvious slot to insert a sim card... unless its behind the plastic sticker that says 'Warning: Do not remove'

Just got off a phone call to Vodafone Customer Services. Nearly two hours if you include the initial call that was 'lost' after twenty minutes and we had to start again.

We wanted to change the billing address for our existing account. That is, our existing mobile services and Vodafone TV service. But suspend the Fibre service while we waited for our new house to be completed.

Managed to get them to record our change of address to the new house. This will technically be our new address for the next four months and then will become our real address when we move in. Until then, the builders will continue installing walls, roofs and cabling, etc.

We also spoke with the relocation team, and after twenty minutes debating the merits of a Ultra Hub Plus and its sim card backup service, they agreed that they couldn't / didn't need to install a service until the house was ready for it.  And because the fibre service is still within its initial twelve months, they will continue to bill us for it.

We have a feeling that getting Vodafone Customer Services to get Fibre connected we be confused by our existing account that will show 'fibre' already being supplied.

@rogercruse Yes if you are under a contract term on a fibre connection you will need to keep paying as the Fibre provider (typically Chorus depending what part of NZ you are in) Will keep charging the ISP for the connection
