In this case Vodafone has decided to show the GST exclusive amount so makes sense they would exclude GST from the discount amount (as they would for all other amounts showing on their bills). Move on, nothing to see here.

GST inclusive statements can show rounding anomalies too. Presentation can get a bit tricky when it comes to line item tax vs summary tax.

Ideally billing apps should be able to bill tax according to the target customer type.

On the face of it it does make you think which is annoying - ideally we should just be able to look a it and go yeah, that's seems right.... we all know Telcos have struggled with easy to read billing for years and I guess this is just another example. A little disappointing given that VF have recently reduced my bill down to about 2 pages to make it more understandable.

Not all telcos struggle with billing though. I suspect because Vodafone's is made up of so many legacy systems, they seem to have to have a large number of issues (from my experience).

My point exactly. If it's advertised as $200, then I want to see $200 on my statement. I do not want to manually calculate that the line item + GST = the advertised amount. Not all of us are accountants & businesses that want GST separated out.

Yes, it is confusing. See point #1. W have all heard about companies adding extra charges to the bill and over charging the customer. All of that starts with a confusing statement.

See point #1. They advertise $200 credit, I want to see $200 on my statement, not some other number that eventually with some head scratching & calculating equals the advertised rate.

You are a brave man to approach VF with such a transition. See below & many other comments on GZ about the horrible state of VF billing.

I can see how it might be annoying, but it is accurate. X amount to your service provider, y amount to government as GST.

Most bills I’ve received are like this. You’d also have noticed all the services you’re being charged for are similarly less than you though (ie GST exclusive with GST added on).
