lol. its not just torrent speed, its any speed. loading sites, and also direct links. my rapidshare premium is downloading at 5kb/sec now. im so frustrated because i called xnet this afternoon. told technical services that my speeds are crap on torrent, and that if there was no solution (they work on it) then i wanna go back to my normal plan, hoever the guy said that xnet was fixing this and my speeds should be normal now and not slow anymore. So i did not change my plan this afternoon as i thought there was some hope. Now with this bad speeds, i was looking on the xnet account onhow and where o change my plan but i dont see any option... any1 can help? its not in viewbill/account.

I'm with msian. Anything international is is shocking.. But if your using Firefox you can get an addon called "tweak network".
It opens up more connections/requests for any site you want to access. Definitely helps out general browsing..
Worth a try.

Don't bother. I'm NOT on the torrent plan and I can't even load international web pages after about 11.30pm. The problem is affecting ALL xnet users, not just those on the torrent plan. National browsing however works fine so it is obviously an international bandwidth issue.

The correct statement is "the problem is not limited to the torrent plan", because there are XNet customers that are not affected.

thats right. however why pay extra 50 cents a gb if its at an unusable state after 12.

What is the deciding factor that determines who is effected? It seems that some people on the Torrent plan are not being effected and are getting great speeds, often at the expense on non torrent users.
If this is not completely resolved by the EOM i'm gone. I'm sick of heavy torrent users screwing my internet access. Did noone learn anything from the Go Large trainwreck?

Shape p2p protocols. It's the only realistic solution. I torrent sometimes, but I'd much rather have a reliable connection to most of the internet even if it's at the expense of p2p speed! There is just way more to the internet than downloading music and movies. Some of us rely on the internet to make a decent living.

Well I get around 400-600kbps constantly... Just depends what your getting.. Linux has MANY seeds :)

Yup, I too have had enough.

Midnight hits and everything international is unusable.

A slow-down I could accept, but getting 5000+ms latencies while playing games, and simple websites taking 5 minutes to load is just retarded and unacceptable. To not hear a damn thing from Xnet, and helpdesk staff being seemingly clueless, just makes it that much worse.

Well done Xnet, you went from highly ranked to bottom of my list for recommended ISPs in under two weeks.

My blazing fast internet speeds....

From like 12kB/s up to 137+kB/s. It's been really crap lately. I'm thinking I'm going to change ISPs, pay a little more for more USABLE internet. I don't understand, if that many people are on the torrent plan to slow it down, to as slooow as it is, then why doesn't xnet spend some more money upgrading so we can have faster speeds?

With the 75gb free off peak - Just wondering has anyone got anywhere near that ammount on offpeak? Because with my connection after midnight that seems impossible for the month...??

Ekstrem I feel the same way as you, this Torrent plan grouping has also effected non-torrent plan users as well. It seams a large number (or just the heavy users) are doing the torrenting during peek times making general surfing painful.
However ever since being through the GoLarge plan and all its problems I am still hesitant to switch (although their plans are very good at the moment) to Xtra.What type of speeds are you getting with Xtra Ekstrem ? Is there a noticable slowdown on peek times? Its hard to get any information about Xtra, because their area has no complaints or praises.

I haven't switched just yet, I am looking at slingshot I think. They have reported speed issues at 1am when their off-peak starts but at least it sounds usable and can still browse and play games.

adamj was the one switching to Xtra.

How much more bandwidth do you want them to buy? How do you know they have not already purchased more bandwidth? As soon as they get more bandwidth, it just gets gobbled up again. They have no way of knowing how much more they need, because it all depends on how much the customers grab.

They can either buy a huge amount of (expensive) bandwidth and risk not using a significant percentage of it, or they can progressively increase bandwidth until they reach the point where they have a bit of spare bandwidth (most of the time). The second option has worked most of the time, unfortunately it worked so well that a lot of torrenters moved to XNet.

I ma sure many of the torrenters are downloading at peak and off peak as well.
That is why it affect many users at peak time which defeat the purpose of the torrent plan.
