You know what really annoys me? Xnet's way to 'fix' the impact the Torrent plan is having. I just think it's bad business to put all torrent plan users into their own pool making service absolutely rubbish. The good business way to have solved the torrent plan would have been to raise prices for off-peak, not destroy the usefulness of the torrent plan for anything but P2P. It's really crumby way to have acted IMHO.

What annoys me is its not just 12am that becomes unusable but many hrs before that, after 8pm I dont bother playing games anymore...I am on the torrent plan, and changed to that plan because 75gig of free data is appealing, I use around 30gig per month. But now torrents arent finishing in the alloted time due to speed issues and they are now running 24/7.

Ugg, tell me about it! I'm a major geek and I'm finding I'm now even structuring my sleep around good and bad network times :-( That's just insane - as is being forced to run torrents and podcast downloads in iTunes during peak hours just to have some damn entertainment ready for the next day. Between BitTorrented TV and podcasts I basically watch zero real TV nowadays, unless you count the NEWS two or three times a week.

replicator: Yeah you might go  from dialup speed to 25kb doing most of mine on peak now,
max seems to be 40kb

A decent improvement, though hardly outstanding compared to six months ago :-(

Can people please also tell me if I'll be able to game again after 8PM? Is latency still a problem on the regular plan during the evening? Because otherwise there is no point to switching.

TIA,
 Jamie Kahn Genet

Called it cancelled as well for the time being, glad I did not close my sky sub yet.

I've had enough. Not on the torrent plan and still stuffing. YouTube hasn't loaded without buffering for weeks and weeks. despite my 14Mbit sync. National speeds are fine.

I've changed to Xtra, change over happens Wendesday,

It's good to see so many having problems with Xnet.
Hopefully you all leave so that my speed increases Tongue out

I doubt it , apparently Xnet current status still has more new signing in than going out.
That's because they are living on past glory
So sorry not a fat chance :-))

Speeds are going to be bad on xnet until they change the pricing and free data on their plans AND/OR they purchase some isp/carrier grade traffic management and caching equipment .

May I ask why Xtra? I'm currently looking at Snap.

FS/FS and 10gigs for $49.95/month as well as good things I have seen and heard recently from their customers.

I'm over using smaller ISP's - I had speed issues with Woosh DSL, moved to Xnet and am now having the same issues. Probably would have gone Telstra Clear but didn't want to move all my home calling etc to them.

i have moved back to the normal plan. will see if teh speed is faster. apparently they said it IS faster than torrent plan. this was according to the staff member i spoke on the fone with. also, they say this is the best (speed) that the isp will be providing for now. so no i dont think this will be resolved soon. i am trialing the normal plan, if not happy moving isp's very soon.
cheers.

this is total crap this torrent problems thing, i have my computer clock set with ntp. the SECOND 12 am came around i had a youtube stream going fine wasnt buffering at all, at 1159 pm i watched the clock as soon as it turned 12 it started and never went right again. whats the chance that every torrenter started their machine just before 12?

its probably xnet saving a ton of money while everyone gets shafted, i hope not though.
