Wifi Calling needs a software update to work. As far as I'm aware we have never sold any Poco phones so they will never get an update with the required configuration. This applies to VoLTE too (note our VoWifi implementation is tied to VoLTE, and needs that to be enabled first).

Re: the A8 - I believe these are only getting security patches now, so they might be too old. I can see that they they are not currently on the (internal) VoWifi roadmap, and I believe they are not enabled for VoLTE on our network either.

For reference the list of devices currently enabled for VoLTE is here: https://www.vodafone.co.nz/our-networks/volte/

Oh well I guess once the sure signal stops its a good enough time to switch the kids and wife over to Skinny. If we have no signal we may as well pay the least amount possible.

(Mines a work account so I'm stuck with vodafone)

Received this from my Vodafone Account Manager last week so posting it here as per request by @raytaylor in the OP.  I got a notice on my iPhone XS earlier this week about WiFi calling, so it seems it was just enabled for me.

anyone know if there is an iOS software restriction level? I have some users at our business that have no Wifi Calling feature option within iOS and they are on an iPhone 12, but they haven't updated to iOS 15 yet.  So I'm wondering if the iOS update is holding them back. They have been resisting updating, but I've asked them to...whether they do or not is the question since it's a personal device and not a company provided phone.

Yep, it was mentioned somewhere on Geekzone that VF WiFi calling came with iOS 15.

Yes, iOS 15 is required for WiFi calling on VF.

They will also need to have VoLTE enabled on the connection - this was done automatically for most customers but there may still be some where it is not enabled.

Well, looking at the above list none of the family phones are going to get wifi calling enabled.
Poco x3
Samsung A8
Nokia 8

Anyone got any suggestions or workarounds?
We get poor Vodafone signal, and no Spark. Hence the suresignal.

What happens in the month from when the suresignal service closes in December and wifi calling is activated for the last models by January?

Kinda in between a rock and a hardplace!

  1. update handsets to something that is supported with VF
  2. move providers who have better coverage or also support VoWiFi (looking at 2deg and the A8, but others unlikely)
  3. if your handset is capable of VoWiFi, then move to Kogan (who don't seem to be as restrictive)

Surely VF will just keep the suresignals running for a bit longer? One would hope anyway!

No turn the Sure Signal service off ASAP! The 5Mhz of 2100Mhz is needed on the mobile network

Kogan are not so less restrictive. My F3 also does not have VoWiFi on Kogan. Only VoLTE.

@MaxineN - presume you've fidled around with the dialler codes for disabling carrier checks etc? Otherwise, seems I've gotten my wires crossed between VoWifi and LTE 😅

From what I understand the December date is the absolute latest, there are technical reasons that make it impossible to extend further.

(Source: I'm currently working through a replacement program for 30+ sites for a big customer, and I am less than comfortable with this running so close to Christmas. If it could be pushed out at all, this customer's needs would have been factored into such a decision.)

Yes. Only VoLTE functions. VoWiFi option is there but does not work.

edit:

(I am totally down for trying to get this working with all Xiaomi devices by the way)

I been in touch at launch with the VF business technical support with this as I too have not been able to activate this with an iPhone 12 and also most of our handsets within the company.

Just followed up today and been told that if you are on the OneBusiness plan they are unable to activate VoLTE at this time.  They are looking to implement a workaround but do not have a timeline for this yet.
