alasta:

Does this imply that we should only have wifi calling enabled if our home has no cellular coverage?

I have it turned on and my phone seems to alternate between 'VF Wifi Calling' and 'VF Pride' - I think the latter is cellular? If my phone is periodically flipping between these two, does that mean that I am at risk of missing calls?

I'm not saying you shouldn't if you're in good coverage, but on the fringe and no coverage should be flicking airplane mode on so you don't miss out on calls.

But if you really want to make use of WiFi calling, even in good coverage, you should be turning on airplane mode.

VF Pride is indeed cellular and VF WiFi Calling is VoWiFi.

MaxineN: We all are wondering the same thing...

@konfusd

Is it normal behaviour to see VoWiFi not prioritized over VoLTE and 3G/GSM calling?

Seems like it's causing a lot of hassle with a few users. Is not the only thread about this.

I'm by no means a RAN expert, but I have heard something about a signal threshold above which where we'll prioritise cellular over VoWiFi (no idea about the details though, sorry!)

For example at my desk at home my iPhone is showing 3 bars of 3G coverage (we're in the shadow of a hill for 4G), and the network name showing is "VF Pride" (i.e. cellular as you've already mentioned). In my case this is preferrable, as if VoWiFi was prioritised then the call would drop as I left WiFi coverage (as there's no VoLTE to hand off to).

I'd definitely recommend feeding back to our customer service team where there are issues caused by this - I know it can be a bit frustrating but it gives our RAN optimisation people more data to work with :)

Appreciate the reply. Unfortunately my feelings on using the 3G network where I am in Christchurch and when I go out east is the exact reason why 4G connectivity needs to be prioritized including both VoLTE and VoWiFi. 3G is absolutely unreliable(including actual service drops) in a few areas me and my fiancée frequent a lot, including my own apartment building in the city! I wish I could give feedback directly but I'm not an actual Vodafone customer, am a Kogan Mobile user that uses the VFNZ network.
