Try setting your firewall to allow all communication to/from our server 58.28.20.150, if everything works from there, then work backwards and get your firewall rules setup the way you want them, if by applying policy a) kills voice in one direction, then remove and try again.

RTP issues will be a result of ports being blocked.

Also ensure that your router has no SIP ALG settings on it, if it does, disable them :)

It doesnt really have a firewall, its a Dlink 604T, ive disabled all firewall functions on it and enabled virtual server rules allowing all necessary ports thru to the trixbox, even so, it doesnt really fix being able to get audio across the local network.

can you enable stun on your device? if so set it to stun.wxnz.net see if that helps.

WouldI have similar issues if I just ditched Trixbox and blew my money on a SPA9000? I really wanted to avoid paying $700 for a PABX

If it's an issue with RTP traffic being blocked something such as by the router causing the one way audio then the answer to that could well be yes.

Have you set externip= and localnet= in your sip.conf?

For localnet use localnet=192.168.1.0 for example if you are using 192.168.1.0/24 as your local IP range

I've seen posts elsewhere describing VoIP issus with Dlink modems, I wouldn't go past it being an issue with your modem/router. have you got the latest firmware installed on it?

this is my sip_nat.conf

this is my rtp.conf

My DSL 504T is set to forward UDP / TCP packets to ports 10001-10050 and ports 5060-5070

Get rid of the /24 - use localnet=10.10.5.0/255.255.255.0 or whatever you are using as the subnet.

I assume you have a fixed IP?

From what I've heard you'd be best to stay well away from the SPA9000, it now been discontinued and probably for very good reason.

I got it working again, been OK for the past week or so, but the audio quality still breaks up a bit, does it need much CPU power to encode the audio? Im only running it on a smelly old Celeron 1.0ghz. I often wonder if the CPU doesnt have the testies.

It depends entirely what you are trying to do. How many concurrent calls are you supporting? What codecs are you using? If you are having to transcode audio to G.729 for example it does use significant resources.

Having said this however the most typical cause of audio breakup is a poor internet connection, poor network hardware or incorrectly configured QoS.

2 lines at once, but barely used 2 lines, the box also runs some iptables and a squid proxy.

only allowing ulaw, alaw & gsm.

Internet connection is OK, ADSL2+ exchange 12mb line speed, speedtest to wxc gets 8400kb/s down, 780kb/s up.

The Modem has the most unfriendly QoS settings ever

From what I see, one option of QoS I can prioritise the traffic depending on which of the 4 on board LAN ports the trixbox is connected to, which if im also running a squid proxy on it, will give www traffic the same priority

The other is IP QoS, which I have options for ToS, which again seems to priortise the LAN ports, Application, which seems promising asking for RTP Voice port ranges? or User Define, which wants Hex Addresses???

Its a D-Link 604T. Anyone else offer advice on how to configure one of these dogs?

Are you using iptables to prioritise traffic?

Personally I wouldn't even attempt to use the same PBX box as a proxy. The PBX box should be a PBX, not a gateway for the network.

As for the modem/router my best piece of advice would be the most expensive - ditch it and get something better. 504's and 604's have numerous issues and if your phones are critical then you should be using good quality equipment.
