Vodafone let me know they found the issue and resolved it. I can confirm that my iMessage is now activated again.

Hi team

I just want to update while I'm in the office, this has been acknowledged, we have no resolution at this time but we are aware and we are investigating.

Got my work phone upgrade this morning to an iPhone 13 and couldn't activate iMessage on Vodafone. It finally activated at about 1800 this evening and appears to be working as norm. Has impacted a lot of our users around the country judging by the communication from our Helpdesk.

To all affected. Can you try again this morning please?

This should be fixed as we had an issue with Apple and our UK Vendor for relaying the activation texts.

Sadly not fixed for me yet.  I turned phone off and on to clear connection in an effort to see if that would help.

Bizzarely, since this happened, I also have been stuck on 3G when connected to the mobile network, I am not sure if it is related to the network reset that I was recommended but when I check in the settings, there is a big tick beside 4G.  This happened both in the CBD and where I live out West.

One thing that the agent did try and do was reset (what I think was) the SMSC number - he gave me a code to punch in, but it came up with an error - something like ##5005*something.... Does anyone know how do I validate what the SMSC is on an iPhone XS?

Just tried again. Nope and now I am getting charged for International TXT as the 50 odd free ones have now been exhausted.

This is the reason I ported back to Spark. iMessage would constantly drop off, then Voda has the cheek to charge ya 20cents each time it reactivated.

Seems weird that Vodafone is the only NZ network that charges 20c to activate. Should be free like 2degrees and Spark when activating an account on any messaging/social media.

I actually thought it was a carrier requirement that Apple introduced into the market a good few years ago - I was working at 2degrees at the time we had to make the change.

@maxinen

Thank you for your help today and sorting the txt message charges!

You are a star. It's great that VF staff on GZ are more than happy to listen and assist with issues.

Yup when I first went to VF I got freaked out when I saw my phone had been sending SMS messages to the UK, took a google for me to realise lol
