Screeb: I propose an idea that will make your customers happy, and won't hurt the wallet: Roll over data caps. That is, each month, any data left on the user's account will be transferred to the next month, and so forth. This should accumulate indefinately. So for instance, if someone is on a 40GB cap plan, and there is 1GB left at the end of the billing cycle, then the next month, the user has 41GB available. If they then only use 39GB again, the next month they will have 42GB available, etc, etc. Note that this doesn't just apply to purchased data packs (like some other ISPs have).

blakamin: I challenge you to name another ISP that has the same quality of service as Telstra, eg: I can download at my max sync speed during peak time AND which is cheaper or the same price
You're kidding aren't you?
I haven't had my max speed for months and no amount of complaints have changed that fact. (10mbit)
richgamer:i agree with this idea. i wish telecom xtra would do roll over data caps. i think slingshot does roll over data caps don't they?
Ragnor: Here's the problem..
I challenge you to name another ISP that has the same quality of service as Telstra, eg: I can download at my max sync speed during peak time AND which is cheaper or the same price AND has more flexible data blocks/banking..
Xnet, Orcon, Vodafone, Slingshot fail on peak time performance
Telecom, Maxnet, Inspire, Actrix fail on flexible data blocks/banking
Snap fail on having a point of prescene in Auckland, I don't want my traffic travelling from Auckland to CHCH before getting to my ISP.
dawnraid... I average around 200 - 300gb per month (dont care about s92 tunneling ftw)

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD. https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.
Screeb:
Somehow, Telecom Broadband is better than TelstraClear cable at the moment. Cable has some advantages over Telecom ASDL, yes, but Telecom's benefits outweigh cable's (Telecom > cable in speed, latency and price, with an equal cap).
Ragnor:
I don't know about you guys but our usage varies a lot from month to month, anywhere from 18GB to 39GB currently.
The Telstra PDQ data blocks aren't anywhere near as flexible as Slingshots or Xnet's options. Everytime I consider changing to Slingshot, Xnet or Orcon a quick review of recent posts on Geekzone or Gameplanet reminds me it would be horrible for international latency and gaming.
So for varying usage I think Telstra PDQ is more flexible than Telecom's plans. However, I do find it annoying that about 5 days before the end of my billing month I need to check make sure I'm going to stay under the next data block. Lets hope the consider data banking.
