jonathan18: Oh, one thing to be mindful of is there’s no ability to purchase additional data if you run out before your monthly cycle is over; may not be a biggie - I very rarely get near to finishing the 4GB I have, though could well do this month given the lack of home internet at the moment!

Yes you can buy more data.

Apologies for the misleading info! I don’t know how I missed that when looking in the past as it’s pretty obvious in the app. I assume it’s always been an option?

Don't forget to get the $5 starter pack for the first month, then apply the code in the second month (before it expires obviously).

Didn't notice that. Thanks. I am now waiting for my Vodafone plan to expire, will register the SIM from the starter park, then before the main code expires apply that. Great deal.  Kogan must have a really good wholesale deal from Vodafone and/or are just using unused capacity on the Vodafone network

Well so far my experience has been somewhat underwhelming. Got my Kogan SIM, registered it and stuck it in my phone together with my Vodafone SIM (OP9 with two SIM card trays).

Did this since I had the 15G data and wanted to use that data while keeping voice on the VF SIM until it had been ported.

Did the port request, got a text to ask for confirmation and agreed. Then about 10 minutes later received two texts informing me the port had failed and to contact Kogan. Did that and after two sessions with their online chat, I was told the port was underway and I should remove the Kogan SIM from my phone and only put it in when the VF one stopped working. Since it's fiddly to remove the SIM I just disabled it in the settings.

Port was initiated Thursday evening and now Saturday morning still nothing.

Hopefully you have access to 4g and 5g after the transfer unlike me! It took 2 months for Kogan to sort out the 4g issue, now both 4g and 5g are working well

That's not a problem I have a dual SIM phone and if I activate the Kogan SIM I get 5G. I was leaving both Sims on the phone and using data on the Kogan SIM but Kogan told me to take out their SIM because apparently it confuses the porting process.

I'm keen to get my number ported because my on account plan expires in 5 days and I don't want to renew it.

Did you click the link? I know that you don't have issues with 5g I was just saying...

Hopefully your number gets ported on Monday

No didn't click the link but have done so now and that is a bit worrying.  I got onto a chat with support this morning and they said the problem has been escalated to the porting team and should be resolved Monday.  I might have to leave my VF account going until the port works. Not sure if I pay for the month past or pay for the upcoming month?  If it's for the month just passed then I will pay that and when the number is ported just pay a pro-rata rate for the days of the next month I use.

I actually bought both the $5 15G for one month and then then one year large plan so I am now committed to them :-(

I was actually looking at the 15g plan so I don't think that would be an issue

Inphinity:

I would call out that they do NOT support texting or calling premium numbers, so if you use providers or services that text you from a shortcode and expect a response, you're SOL. Not even an option to add $5 credit to pay for them or anything. This is the reason we're moving back off them, it's counter-useful for me to have to go back to phoning places back to confirm everything when a text would work. Value seemed good otherwise.

My wife uses Kogan and this is annoying for her. But at $80 a year, she is willing to put up with it!
