Update on this, I have sent all details to @MaxineN so hopefullly somebody will be able to look into it.

The problem continues if wired (desktop) or wifi (android), with wifi disabled and wired only, with wired disconnected and wifi only so I am 99% sure it's nothing this end.  It would be interesting to know if anybody else in the Hillmorton / Hoon Hay area of Christchurch on HFC has noted any problems.

I have been collecting speed test data and traces at 5 minute intervals (to the Christchurch One NZ speedtest server) for the last 9 days, here's a chart of Upload speed (negative = total failure), and Packet Loss (100 = total failure)

Leftmost is 12am on Sunday 27th of August, Rightmost is 11:50am Tuesday 5th September

If anybody else should be interested to collect similar data for themselves, here's the bash script I'm using.

Get OneNZ to send you a new router, and have contractor come look at your outside terminal.

Some early terminal boxes were not exactly waterproof

I get to slightly retract what I said about it not being a physical fault.

This one's been referred to Downer.

There is a physical fault that is intermittent.

OP will get a Downer rep calling them soon to book a time 🙂

Yes thanks to Maxine for calling me.  I got a Downer appt for next week

Of course, as is tradition, 3 hours after making that appointment on Tuesday the connection went down entirely for an hour (unfortunately when I wasn't there to see it in person) then when it came back.... rock solid 100Mbps up with zero packet loss and has been since.

Have tried anything I can think of to try and trigger it again, nope.
