The only thing to be aware of is that some are 3G only devices and some are HSDPA devices. If speed is an issue you'll want HSDPA but remember via Bluetooth you may not get near the HSDPA speeds, you'll typically need to use a USB cable.

Hi, the Dynalink N3G005W will do what you want, normally goes for around $250.

What I am now looking for is a 3G Wireless Router that will accept a Vodem Stick and will run off 12v DC.

I believe Jama has done quite a bit of testing with various units and could offer some advice.

To date have found the following routers that do the task.
My fravourite to date is the Netgear. Any more suggestions would be welcome.

Huawei D100 - Not good reviews at all $xxx

I used to have one of these. Great router but in my case not stable on Orcon LLU ADSL and it initially worked with my Novatel Wireless USB HSPA modem but after a firmware upgrade of the router somewhere along the way it stopped working. There is a list here of compatible modems.

I know this has been mentioned many times but in terms of performance, how does the new 900mhz network stack up? I have seen posts by JohnR to suggest that speeds are the same between 900mhz/2100mhz network in terms of speeds up to 7.2mbits being available on both. However in terms of real world performance is this the case say if I were staying in a smaller town like Whitianga?

Very very case by case basis and even time of day due to number of users using the cellsite etc.

I haven't had any issues with it anywhere on either handset or USB device though and I have used it in a fair few varied locations.

Zeon: What data devices do vodafone offer that can use 3g extended? Preferably we are looking for pcmcia devices - should we get vodafone branded or generic devices?

Soon we have a express HSPA card going on sale E3735

I may be wrong but I don't think we will see many if any PCMCIA devices of any type released going forward from now

No, ExpressCards have replaced PCMCIA cards.

I think you will find 14.4 will be jumped straight to HSPA+
