HybridE506r: Theres good reason to be concerned about what coverage is available. In the event of a power cut,

landline phones relying upon 230v power may not work - and if theres an emergency a cell phone is next to useless if it has no coverage

In the early hours of this morning i had a colapse, this time thankfully not serious. H ad i needed help, vodafone would have been utterly useless waste of time due to lack of coverage

So today, i went and bought a cheap entry level TELECOM XT mobile phone and now i have full coverage instantly, it works :) i can now receive and make voice calls on mobile. Great !!

Last week i did contact vodafone via their website, but it doesnt seem theyre very interested in the customer, no response so far.

In a week, if i either have no better vodafone coverage nor hear from vodafone when their coverage will improve, i will go and tell all the people i know that where vodafone failed, the new Telecom XT network did work, from a safety viewpoint, its worth knowing. imho

Highly likely where you live has also CDMA coverage and has had for years.

oh here we go again :-)

For me, it is all about two things - Not Price, because price means beans if the service is rubbish.

In my case service equals being able to use my iPhone (Or for that matter any 3G PDA) with some reasonable D/L speed and being able to hold onto calls in the main centres without them dropping off a lot too often.

As an aside, doesn't the iPhone 3G have HSDPA? my U/L and D/L speeds on full bar 3G in Auckland to a test server are quite poor as in 117 up and 94 down kb's that is.

cheers

Yes, it's HSDPA. Since price is not the diferentiator, go to a Telecom store, buy a Prepay SIM card, insert on your iPhone and do the speed comparison yourself.

Enough said.
