I moved to XT and it's so so so much better than Vodafone. Now I just gotta change from XNET to Orcon!

You are adding no value to a thread going around saying the above as many users across NZ are getting great speeds as I have posted above

The end user could have a issue with a device this can be proven by basic fault checking try in different area

My speeds at home averages at 1MB/s. Same speed test. Not very great in todays standards but at least workable. So definitely not a device problem.

As I mentioned earlier, in Wellington central I am getting downloads speeds at like 0.2Mb/s. and upload speeds of 0.04mb/s. Not on random days, every single day now for nearly the past week!! Ridiculous really.

What I care about here is the service that I am paying for and getting in return for my buck. Lets not blame the end user again..

Don?t want this thread to turn into a bash Vodafone thread and my apologies if it has turned out as such. I just would appreciate it if somebody could run a simular test in Wellington central. Maybe I am in a flat spot? Who know?? But I have experienced the same results from2 different Wellington central locations, on multiple days of the week.

Hey, I'm in central-ish Wellington (Mt Vic) so I thought I'd give this a go.

I get 0.12Mb/s down and 0.26Mb/s up with a ping of 271ms in IE on my windows mobile phone. I might grab a laptop and tether it later and see if I get any better.

Anyone else getting better on their WIMO devices?

UPDATE:

Plugged in the laptop and tried again, got a far better ping (109) but the dl was still pretty low, 0.19Mb/s with an upload of 0.44Mb/s.

Keen to hear what speeds (both on the phone and tethered) that other windows mobile users in central-ish wellington are getting.. The phone I have is pretty new (diamond2) and has the H's where necessary...

ANOTHER UPDATE:
just tried again at work in upper hutt, was getting similar speeds while the guy next to me with an iphone was hitting 1Mb, needless to say he was giving me grief. changed the access point from www. vodafone.net.nz to Internet and then started getting speeds similar to his although not any better. will try again tonight when im in the city although im not expecting much, even his speeds are pretty poor in the city (0.3 ish).

I've got to agree, Vodafone's data speeds are pretty poor. I've just run a couple of speedtests from Courtenay Pl, Wellington using my iPhone 3G:

Tethered to laptop via bluetooth = 0.37Mb/s down and 0.10Mb/s up with ping of 501ms

Tethered to laptop via USB = 0.36Mb/s down and 0.08Mb/s up with ping of 303ms

Speedtest from phone itself using the Speedtest.net application = 0.30Mb/s down and 0.32Mb/s up but with ping of 5113ms

OK so houston we have a problem....

Will be interesting to see if vodafone comes to the party now and does something about it.

Surely vodafone should have 3g probes around the country testing the general 3g upload/dowload speed and general connectivity? Wishful thinking i suppose. Do they just rely on people like us to report that there is a problem?

Oh man...mine is soo slow too. Tried it in Ponsonby, Mt Roskill, Albany etc

Same sorta speed test figures as you BraaiGuy.

Very disappointing, makes Telecom's XT network look appealing more each day.

While I get bad speeds (well not bad, but they are very slow) where I am, I went into Takapuna the other day, and managed to get >1.1mbps. Which is more favourable than the results i recieved below.

I have had a sudden jump is speed over the last 2 hrs...can someone else test their speed and post if it has jumped on the VF network with 3G?

up in thorndon today, 0.17 down with 0.95 up, better but would rather the speed was down instead of up

Still the same with me. No improvements.

Anything below 1MB/s down is below average as far as I am concerned. Vodafone needs to come to the party and sort this out. We are not living in a 56k modem or gprs world anymore. Why are we so acceptable to this sort of service? We are paying for 3G HSDPA, its what vodafone is advertising, we are clearly not getting anything close to those sort of speeds. In other words we all being blindly ripped off.
