Aaroona:
freitasm: I am paying $53.95 on XT Network for what's practically the equivalent to the iPhone $60 plan - and I am not in a term, so no fees to pay if I decide to move...

Not really a heavy user, like i thought. lol

I use about 160MB a month for personal data. Mainly ActiveSync and Twitter. Most of my data is on fixed line broadband, as it should be...

@Aaroona why try? they already have people locked into contracts etc, someone at vodafone was very smart years ago when they removed all contract terms and the major discounts on handsets you use to get with them (i.e. free nokia 5110 @ RRP of $550 for a 12 month term) and then bringing terms back in with very small discounts on handsets. very very smart move by them, now kiwi's expect to pay a lot of money and still get tied into a 24 month contract for a good handset, where other countries get headsets for free (talk a look at the HTC magic, and NZ vs AU

The included data is a joke. They should be looking at 1GB minumum on all iPhone plans.

I wonder if we can purchase it online (pay for it etc...) then pick up at the store on Friday (I hope)

Otherwise most of us will have to wait for delivery meaning that we don't get to play with our new toy for the weekend :P

Rang VF and they confirmed that the only way to purchase an iPhone 3GS outright was via the online store. When I asked why, got told "sorry, I'm not part of the marketing department."

Going to call Magnum Mac now to see if they'll sell me one on Friday!

Nope.  Can only order it online FROM Friday.  Then it will get delivered next week.

As much as I'd like a 3GS phone (having seen comparisons of things like photos) I think I'll be staying with my Nokia 6121 for the next little while...

I guess that means no purchase online and pickup at store :S

Let us know if we can buy outright at Magnum Mac when you know!

Yes, can buy them outright at Magnum Mac. They put their orders in for the 3GS yesterday, but are not certain to get any on Friday. And you are unable to purchase them over the phone or get one put aside.

Why is it so god damn hard to spend $1400 these days?

maknz: Plans are irrelevant to me... but WTF, I can't buy just the phone on Friday at a store? What are you playing at VF?

I spose its an incentive to go on a contract then you get it the same day.

but I suspect the reason they are doing this is becuase then those who are going to sign up on a contract are promised and delivered a phone.

I wouldnt think Vodafone would make much out of the iphones themsevles, as they do the plans.

Does anyone know whether VF have decided to lock them this time round?
