quickymart: No seriously...is that plan not available on You Choose or something? I really don't use 2000 texts...

Yes it is

Hmm, I'd better go into a store then, because the call centre told me otherwise! Awesome.

I'd like the 600 instead of the 2000, but was told I couldn't do that (something to do with the specific plan choices I had made). No worries, I'll go to a store.

nzpilot1181: ah well you see silly me didnt do any homework before switching not realising that they didnt offer any txt bundles! My friends and family are complaining that its costing them to txt me! So back to good old vodafone i go :)

So Vodafone "locked" your friends - and you - financially?

This is what happens in our current situation. You can get good plans on Telecom, with no contract. But the ability of moving away to Vodafone doesn't actually exist because if you move to them you lose your freedom by having to sign a contract. Therefore "contract" and "no contract" (or term) is irrelevant.

Then we get into this "bundles". Vodafone offers bundles, but only to other Vodafone mobiles. Telecom offers (not so generous) bundles to any mobile in New Zealand. But your friends and family aren't too quick on moving, or are tied to the before mentioned "terms".

Big mess...

Not quite right - Vodafone does offer off-net TXTing. TXT600 is any net.

Cheers

Paul

The average customer on Vodafone pays 21c/minute for calling. Just saying. Cheers
Paul

Just saying.....are you able to "just say" more of what an average customer at vodafone is doing. Contract/Prepay, txt2000, best mate, all of the above.

Seems pretty meaningless to me without more information and details.

cheers

That's the average when you take into account:

the headline rate
Best Mate
Family
$2 for 2 hours
Free Weekends

etc.

The average customer pays 21cents per minute.

no information on TXTs but if you take TXT2000 and divide it by 2000 you'll figure out the average TXT charge for that bundle. Add in a BM or a Family pack and that number falls and so on.

How's that?

cheers

Paul

But if it's TXT2000 it's Vodafone -> Vodafone, so you aren't charging yourselves to send texts across your own network, are you?

I asked about porting back since mum is worried about moving to 2degrees - anyway, despite still having the vodafone sim, they wanted to sell another one to move back - so factor that cost in if you think you will be moving back over.
