Hey all, just wondering if it is possible to port a number BACK to Vodafone from 2Degrees which was originally on Voda prepay (i.e. it is currently an 021 number with 2degrees) Cheers

Yes. You can port to and from any operator. You can port to Prepay or On Account.

Yes, you can port any mobile number back in to Vodafone.

Can I ask why, given Two Degrees has only just kicked off?

I've had anecdotal evidence that people are starting to realise just how much they use things like Best Mate, Family, $2 for 60 and Free Weekends.... The average customer on Vodafone pays 21c/minute for calling.

Just saying.

ah well you see silly me didnt do any homework before switching not realising that they didnt offer any txt bundles! My friends and family are complaining that its costing them to txt me! So back to good old vodafone i go :)

So Vodafone "locked" your friends - and you - financially?

This is what happens in our current situation. You can get good plans on Telecom, with no contract. But the ability of moving away to Vodafone doesn't actually exist because if you move to them you lose your freedom by having to sign a contract. Therefore "contract" and "no contract" (or term) is irrelevant.

Then we get into this "bundles". Vodafone offers bundles, but only to other Vodafone mobiles. Telecom offers (not so generous) bundles to any mobile in New Zealand. But your friends and family aren't too quick on moving, or are tied to the before mentioned "terms".

Big mess...

just goes to show people should do there homework , the old saying its better the devil you know than dont know,another contribution geeker had all the pricing from both providers,cant remember his user name though

Not quite right - Vodafone does offer off-net TXTing. TXT600 is any net.

I tried to get that added once on my "You Choose" plan and was told by the call centre in Egypt it wasn't possible.

As usual this thread is going way OT. So I don't have qualms in continuing in that vein

I have two phones on account with VF and two prepaid (kids). I am on Mega 20 with 20 anytime minutes, 200 to any VF phone and 2000 texts while my wife is on Easy 20. She is also my Best Mate

Most of friends and business associates are on VF so I rarely get through my 200 minutes. Though it can be annoying to call somebody with an 021 number that's been ported to Telecom!

Kids SMS 798 to get me to call them. My wife calls me and hangs up and I call her back.

It works pretty well most of the time and so the call charges are reasonable.

Even if 2Degrees had fabulous plans (and they don't really) VF has got me locked in sort of - good marketing but I won't speak about customer or cellular service!
