Yeah but I highly doubt apple would give any reasonable kind of discount for bulk.., why would they, they have the device people want and networks want to have so people will use their network.
Same deal with apple as with getting the iphone from vodafone in nz, if it's what the customer wants and there's nowhere else to get it then the customer will pay whatever the selling price is.

Ummm I doubt they stated that. First Telecom would have to get authorisation to be a carrier for the iphone which they dont have, so no price war if you dont have a product to sell.
Second, that statemement if true would come close to price fixing / collusion.

I was meaning in general, not specific to the iphone. There was an article I read somewhere online around the start of the xt network where they say neither of them were interested in starting a price war unless the other one started it first, but I couldn't find it within 2 minutes of googling so I've got no proof, just my leaky memory :)
Not wanting to get into a price war isn't necessarily collusion/price-fixing, it just meants they don't want to gut their profits.
