Reminds be of a billing horror story from the states from a few years ago, but I cannot find the link. A man kept getting a invoice from his old power company for a final bill of $0.00 and threatened legal action if he didn't pay it. The letters kept coming with more and more threatening tones.

After many conversations with the power company in question and pleads to stop their accounting system, he eventually cut them a cheque for $0.00 and posted it in and forgot about it.

A few days later he had a frantic call from his bank manager asking why on earth he made a cheque out for such a amount and relayed his story. The bank manager told him that it brought down the whole cheque processing centre for the whole state and caused untold grief.

Anyways, the bills kept coming for $0.00 and he eventually took them to court and ended up having them done for harrassment or something similar, all because of their screwed up accounting system.

Just be glad it has not got that bad yet. You should all ring up Vodafone and ask to make part payments on the bill...

Haha, what a crack up story!

nitrotech: It would have cost more to send it in the post!

Why do you still get your invoice in the post?

simon14: Can't they just tell the billing system to ignore all payments under $1? Can't be that hard...

Because if you do that a million times, you're down $990,000.

When I filled out the form I asked for the bills via email but they sent it to me via post as well for some reason - don't ask me why.

The funny thing is that the only reason I got the 19c bill was because when I signed up for the contract the store didn't give me any of the paper work so I had to send myself a text message to find out what the number was!

I get a statement from ASB each month, the account was meant to be closed, but had 1c left in it. On the bright side I get 1c every now and then. Still have the eftpos card for it too. I'll try not to spend it all at once

You do have a valid point, but they should use this rule when sending out invoices which are in credit then, because, for example, I used to be with TCL (Telstra), and we're getting $0.05 invoices (which are in credit) every month.

But unlikely to happen. Because people would complain then

At least you are getting bills - I get nothing by email till they send me an angry letter in the post threatning disconnections and credit reporting. Pay that, then nothing for several months.

I just got a bill for 42c.  What is really annoying is that my number got moved into the work account over a year ago so there shouldn't be anything at all to pay.

Couldn't be bothered though, so I just set them a cheque.

My online login now says my account is overdue so i'm going to pop into NZ post and pay a shiny 20c piece to the teller - then I will get a bill saying i'm in credit by 1c this month
