Achua, I think I am giving up on 3G...at least for the time being, I had my phone set to use the 3g network but a couple of people sent me plain txt messages yesterday and I couldn't receive them and the signal indicator bar was flat = no signals at all! Unless there is any other clever way like someone mentioned, by-passing the Vlive scanning thing, then our hope for winning this war is rather slim...

How about we all sign a petition to get Vodafone to put z800 on their bloody list, any seconder?

MobileChung have you confirmed the handset is not faulty and set the phone to GSM only if you want. Just remember you have a non approved Voda NZ handset cause I am sure you are the only one having SMS issues and signing a petition is going to do nothing the network is not owned and operated by you. The company is %100 private. The Z800 firmware is different if you want access to 3G vlive get the V800 firmware on your handset.

(thats not mean to sound as blunt as it does sorry)

achua: Let me know how you go. Which language pack are you going to flash to it (and which tool are you going to use?)

I've tried it a number of times and it doesn't work, the VF firmware all the flashing servers have is UK branded and doesn't seem to work here.

Also, make sure you set the correct CDA strings for a VF Live! NZ handset, only way to get them is to look in someone elses official V800. I'm not sure if Voda NZ check these things, but it doesn't hurt to have everything "right" in the hope of getting it working :)

I have a z800i and a t28 cable and was going to flash it with the v800 Voda UK firmware but I'm not keen on wasting money on credits if it doesn't solve the problem.

When last I tried it made zero difference.

There's some sort of special content pack that's NZ specific. What it changes in the phone that VFNZ detect I don't know - It's not the phone type or the CDA strings because I can change those as I please and it didn't work @ all.

I haven't tried since 3G launched, but before it launched I had a V800 that would only get "You are not allowed to access this page" when I tried to connect to VF Live!
Flashing it to a Z800 removed this error but also removed the ability to load the Live! icons etc. Flashing it back to a V800 with various different langpacks (eu_9 etc) didn't make any difference, nor did editing the CDA strings to match those of a "working" V800.

Maybe something's changed, but I doubt it.

Does anyone here work with the EMMAII SE Service Software? They will know the content/patch that I am talking about I suspect.

Is there any software I can use that doesn't charge you every time you use it?

Yup, there sure is.
It's damn expensive though! :)

http://microengineers.cc/cruiser/home.php

There's also SeTool2

http://www.setool.net

Both will cost you slightly less than the cost of a new V800 :)

I use Cruiser and it's fantastic. For the odd bit of flashing now and then you'll be much better off with Multiserver/Davinci.

Guys guys, and gals of course...

Just so we're geeks while on this forum, hey, I was thinking...

What about user certtificates on mobiles?????

Cause I'm looking at my phone, LG u8130, doesn't work on VLive NZ (not even the picture one, I only get the b&w version).... Anyway, looking at the user/authority certificates, I got 2 specially installed for accessing the "3" network!!!!!

MAYBE????

AND, if you go to the Vodafone AU equivalent of our wireless.vodafone.co.nz auto setup settings page, if you click on a Vlive phone to setup, you get sent 2 different sets of settings. Maybe the latter is a user certificate!!!!!!!

MAYBE that's what Vodafone checks....
