Hi i just bought a V800i and its from Hong Kong. The firmware on it is R1Y005. I tried going on to vodafone live to try the 3G and all i got was the normal vodafone live site without the 3G links. Can someone please suggest what i can do to get 3G going for my phone. Should i update my firmware? I had a look on the net and total multiserver has the Z800 and the V800 firmware update files. Can someone suggest which one i should get.
Thanks

I have the same problem but I bought mine from a parallel import. I think the problem may be to do with a the difference in the firmware they use here, my guess...

There seems to be some Strict checking system on vodafones end. It's possibly got to do with the version ID the browser gives even. Hmmm... there must be a way, The same way I made my pocket pc's pocket IE identify as MSIE 6.0 and Windows 2000!!!! funny..... all those sites now work perfectly but it has a registry, phones generally don't.

Muppet also told me that they (Vodafone) are very very strict on dissallowing overseas phones onto the VLIVE portal.

As far as i'm are Vlive's 3g stuff won't work with any imported phones. I used to have the hidden servers to allow alien phones to access VLIVE (bypasses the checking) and even Telecoms too, but alas lost them. :-( try accessing "VLIVENZ" without any www or .co.nz

i readthat some people got their imported phone working on 3G because they got updated firmware on the phone which is not NZ firmware. also on total server they do have vodafone firmware but not sure if that will work or not.

achua: I've played with this excessively.

There's no way I know of currently to get it working, short of getting it flashed @ Mobile Phone Reapir (who would flash the required NZ specific customisations required)
If you find out any differently please let me know.

Audiophiles are such twits! They buy such pointless stuff: Gold plated cables, $2000 power cords. Idiots.

Muppet, so you mean after flash it with the v800 firmware, it should be compatible with the Vlive NZ specification?

I have found that my z1010 works on vodafone 3g however there are some services i cant use, so i dont know if it would be the saem wiht the z800 or v800i, the only service that does not work is the music store, but video calling and steaming works fine, as long as you have the gprs setup for vodafone NZ and make sure your APN is set to live.vodafone.com.

settings can be sent from wireless.vodafone.co.nz

It's good if yours is a "popular" phone that is bought overseas. As long as Vodafone NZ lists the phone on their "approved list", you're in luck.

Problem is, is if you have a phone like my LG u8130. Luckily, video call works. But not Vodafone Live at all...

I suggested in another thread that VLive senses your phone, then "redirects" you to a page. For me, it's the black and white wap page. Address, live.vodafone.com/#pt03

Any chance you guys with a phone that works for mobile TV and the cool version of VLive, tell me what address you get redirected to? Like for the main page, what's the URL? And the URL for the "Mobile TV" page? Maybe entering the URL directly, I can get into a page, and skip the "scanning process" by Vodafone.
