allstarnz: it's odd the new Sky Pace boxes don't have an option like 'always 16:9' (which most Dreamboxes have). This means that channels like Sky Sport will be proper widescreen, while other channels like ESPN will have the pillar box on them. That will work for all outputs. As long as the broadcaster sends the AR flag, it works perfectly.

I thought that was how they work or my one does.  The TV auto switches the aspect ratio  depending whether it's 16x9 or 4x3..

Nety: I do wish they would get Discovery done.. seems it is being left till last but is one channel that would realy benifit from being in widescreen

The other day i was watching box and a ws Man Vs Wild advert came on for discovery channel.

I pretty much crapped my pants until i realised it was just an advert on a 16:9 channel.

Does Australia get ws discovery?

No. Discovery for NZ/AU is produced in Singapore for both countries and both are 4:3

Even though it seems ALL programming nearly is 16:9 on that channel, but broadcast as 4:3 letterbox.. frustrating...

Check out my LPFM Radio Station at www.thecheese.co.nz - Now on iHeart Radio, TuneIn and Radio Garden

Yip I haven't seen a single show recently that's not letterboxed. The onlything that still seems to be 4:3 is the Discovery Channel show intros!
