Does anyone know who built the Cingular network? Also who is building the NZ HSDPA network? Or is it just a tag onto the current Nokia UMTS system?

"Cingular and Lucent today announced the first successful data calls on Cingular's HSDPA test network in Atlanta, using Lucent equipment. The tests reached sustained data rates over 3 Mbps."

I know who is building the HSDPA in NZ but if I tell you I have to kill you.. :)

From Nokia press release

The first commercial HSDPA software release for network infrastructure offering up to 1.8 Mbps download speeds will be available in 2005 from Nokia, followed by a simple software upgrade to 3.6 Mbps starting mid 2006 according to commercial terminal availability.

Later, an upgrade to High Speed Uplink Packet Access (HSUPA) with enhanced upload speeds, will be available in a similar manner. Nokia upload speed is already 384 kbps. Nokia already has over 20 HSDPA contracts, 7 of which have been published.

This is press information, about a software release. Where is the commercial deployment?

It's interesting to see how that according to their stats TelstraClear are going to have a live 3G network in Q4 2005. No mention of Econet though!
