bvidulich: The time of the day also affects the speed. In the morning I get 4+ MB/s but at night I only get about 1 MB/s at the best

I can do 1.4MB/s (That's MegaBytes, not bits. I assume you meant to type Mb.. Since I don't think ADSL2+ can even do 32Mbit/s!) offpeak (I've tried from ~8am till around 3pm).. but offpeak is ass, at most I get ~100-200KB/s.

Hmm, it doesn't seem to be a problem with the last-mile because I get reasonable local speeds (6Mb/s) but really crap US speeds (0.65Mb/s). To elsewhere in NZ is good. So the problem is between Xnet and the rest of the world. They can't blame telecom for that.

I didn't bother with this much and just thought it was a fact of life in NZ. That was until I found out a friend gets 6Mb/s from the US, in the evening. He's on Vodafone ADSL.

Auckland DL=6.08Mb/s UL=0.58Mb/s US DL=0.65Mb/s UL=0.76Mb/s
