Maybe Vodafone took a leaf out of Blizzard Entertainments book and applied their version of soon

Soon: Copyright 2004-2010 Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. All rights reserved. "Soon" does not imply any particular date, time, decade, century, or millennia in the past, present, and certainly not the future. "Soon" shall make no contract or warranty between Blizzard Entertainment and the end user. "Soon" will arrive some day, Blizzard does guarantee that "soon" will be here before the end of time. Maybe. Do not make plans based on "soon" as Blizzard will not be liable for any misuse, use, or even casual glancing at "soon.""

With May about to end at midnight I wonder if June could be too soon? Time will tell. We also have not had a response from Paul. I guess he will reply soon......

PaulBrislen: What was the question?

"The Common Mayfly has a life expectancy of just one day.....(and ends)......Vodafone, make the most of now."

Just a very simple question from a long time on account customer of Vodafone to the Ivory Towers of Vodafone HQ:

In your world how is the word 'SOON' defined?  Tomorrow, next week, month, year???

Soon is such a convenient word to use sometimes!

 lets try some contexts:

Account Manager: I'll get that completed for you SOON.

Salesperson: We'll have the new mini boosters on sale SOON.

Corporate: We'll have our new iPhone plans out SOON.

define SOON. :P

I think you'll find that the issue here stems from diverging expectations.
When a customer hears 'soon' from an employee, they may be expecting a time frame that is impossible to deliver. This usually stems from their lack of understanding of the procedures involved in delivering the product or service.
I personally believe that giving a customer a realistic time frame (with a small buffer for unexpected issues that may arise) is far better customer service.
'Under promise and over deliver', rather than allow the customer to form their own 'promises' (expectations) by using the word 'soon'.

Let me clarify my question in simple terms. Paul you have have through numerous forums promised those of us 'on account' customers that there were better call time plans coming soon.  If you take the time to go back through discussions around the now pulled $12 pre pay talk plan you will find this information.

What I was asking was how long does the word 'soon' mean?

Quite simple really. Rather than playing dumb would be nice to know. I suppose I can expect a response 'soon.'

I have always been a contented Vodafone customer, but last year they brought zyb.com, which is a simple and easy phone contact backup. As I change my phone often, it was ideal for me. But, Vodafone closed it to new registrations, pending the release of vodafone 360. I can still use zyb, but my customers can't.
I believe Vodafone are going to do this 360 thing "soon".

We launched Talk with the intention of extending it to On Account. There were other components of Talk which would have been launched this quarter.

Given the Commerce Commission doesn't like Talk, we pulled it from the market.

This has thrown us off schedule somewhat, but we have an ongoing series of offers coming out this year. No, I'm not telling you what or when.

We've adjusted the iPhone/Smart phone plans to give more TXT and voice minutes - that's available today.

We've launched new data plans for on account customers.

We have plans to revamp our fixed line offers and we've launched Simply for the Prepay customers.

Given the year is only two months old (we start on April 1) that's quite a full slate already and we're not done yet.

So will I tell you what we're launching and when? No. Will I define soon? No.

We'll have more stuff coming out soon.

Cheers

Paul

As for ZYB, I too use it and was quite surprised to see it no longer accepts new customers. I've asked Group why that is, and it is tied up with the 360 launch in Europe.

I'll ask again when or if we'll see functionality restored as a stand alone product. It is very useful, although it has just restored all my deleted contacts which is annoying.

Cheers

Paul
