205 on that hop with Xnet. I notice that it's going via Australia, which didn't happen with TCL.

On Bigtime... BigTime is dead, long live BigTime :) But seriously, XNET are good. I'm switching back, and getting work to get fibre through them as well :-)

Latency is still "in the yellow" as of now (although I haven't had the Web browsing issue since setting the DNS servers on my PC). Overall my TCL connection was better, and Xnet simply doesn't meet my expectations so I won't be continuing with the service.

Unfortunately, my TCL login details are no longer working so I can't do a "side by side" comparison of pings etc. I've raised this with TCL, but I suspect that I'll lose my Xnet access once my TCL login is working again.

Good pings via xnet here too. I suspect the ping latency you talk about is in game and not an actual icmp ping?

Yeah, I've been testing the in-game latency (Bronzebeard US) because after all, that's what actually affects me. The "205 on that hop" post I made at the top of this page was, however, based on a traceroute to the logon server.

NZCoderGuy: Most of the time i recommend using OpenDNS's Servers - they seem to be very reliable.

208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220

Try that out.. it won't cost you anything - but might help fix the problem.

Or test whether you can still use the TCL servers. Or try ns1.ihug.co.nz and ns2.ihug.co.nz

And check that WXC havent turn interleaving off, that would cause random errors which would appear as speed/latency problems. You are connected at a good speed despite a distance issue, so I dont think unplugging phones will help much unless your modem gets a slower sync. Definitely interleaving is a factor that can be changed by moving to a new provider.

Yup, normally watching other threads, but if nobody picked up on it then why not ad my 2cents... I have to say WXC seems better than mine on slingshot.
