rassnor: Same with me, problems logging into steam since Friday, weird internet speeds come and go. I had thought it was a isolated issue with steam. Good to know a fix is coming.

I too have been experiencing the same issue.

I've tried it from both a residential land line broadband connection, and a business land line broadband connection with the same issues.

DL'ing (when it works) from Steam at 3K/sec is not very nice.

Was that "change" the _announcement_ that you guys will be offering some form of naked DSL (probably on the red network only) next week?

Naked dsl is not the change I am speaking of. I am speaking of the international issues as I understand its happening early tomorrow morning.

Good to hear that vodafone are working on International, but its not just international, sites in NZ are very slow, trade me is usually instant now its just slow, images don't load half the time, even trying to log in to anything is a mission. Also will we get any compensation for these issues that have been going on for ages? like a credit or some extra data...

Was wondering what the hell was happening. Steam's been incredibly slow to login last few days and Champions Online has been unplayable. Thought it was an issue with the game, but connecting to Cryptic's servers from work (Telecom) has been perfect, get home 1/2 hour later and 'Server not responding'.

If this is due to a decent number of Telecom customers jumping ship after the all-you-can-eat plans being discontinued and along with the Vodafone/Sky deal, then it just goes to show how disorganised Vodafone is.

Did a test today: using netstat -a to find the ip address of the server I was connecting to, at work I was being routed directly to the states, at home I was getting routed through Australia and getting increates lag (i.e. +100ms over the direct connection) massive lag spikes and terrible packet loss. Thanks Vodafone :/

Did find something fairly interesting, the huge thread in the Orcon forums is the exact same issue.

Its proves that its not just a few of us having the issues. I saw one person say on a forum from vodafone that they changed the way they route international traffic and thats why its all messed up...

Yup, looks like international traffic is being routed through a provider called VOCUS in Aus. Absolutely ridiculous decision; it automatically adds 50 - 100ms latency to any US traffic.

However this would simply cause an increase in lag, not the massive connection issues, download failures and cutouts peps are getting. Vodafone or VOCUS are severely screwing something up. Whether there's routing issues, severe packet shaping or throttling going on it's basically killing everyone's enjoyment of the internet.

I know Vodafone probably don't want to use Telecom's Wholesale (i.e. global gateway internet service or GGIS), but switching to a sub-standard service provided by VOCUS is going to cost them allot of customers.

Hey, recently moved house and signed up for the ultimate 30GB Broadband plan to... it is painfully slow...

I was living in Birkenhead previously, with orcon getting line download speeds upwards of 15000+ kpbs with upload speeds of 600+ kbps

These are my new line statistics... I don't know how to interpret the noise, attenuation etc... but is my line noisy? do i need new wiring?.... or is it just vodafone?

Hi, your immediate problem is off topic, but I presume you have moved to the Red Network and were previously on a Orcon connection via Telecom, if so you should ask Vodafone to move you back to a Telecom wholesale plan. Once that is sorted then you will be dealing with the issues of this thread which are not due to your local connection to the infrastructure.

I'm still having problems with this and IMO has never really gone away, are other people still having these issues?

I have no issues with speed but its the persistent 'ok initially and then no reply back from the web site or takes awhile to refresh or timeout connectivity'

I've done the isolation test and checked router config (linksys AM300, wireless WRN360) but still the same issue.

If anyone doesn't have this problem, what did you do?

The problem still seems to be there, speed is no issue for me but websites seem to constantly time out, or if they load they are missing half the images. Vodafone aren't really saying anything and the forums have gone quiet but i imagine thats due to VF not really giving a damn about making their customers happy

have you logged a call with VF yet regarding this issue? I could not browse a lot of website's like google and kotaku last saturday. gave them a call at 11am. got a call back from VF same day 4pm. all fixed. please try now. and yes it was fixed.
