kyhwana2: They're increasing the data from $1.02/GB up to $1.028/GB (both GST inclusive)
That's waay more than the GST increase.
If it was just GST, it would go from $1.02 to $1.05/GB.

They put Fusion down to $65/month, but if you use more than 19.2GB a month, it's going to cost you more.

From my rough calculations, that is almost a 25% increase, which is being blamed on GST. Surely data charges should be going down not up over time.

With the GST rise, it should only go up from  $1.02 to $1.043, so if rounded  it would be $1.04 or $1.05

They haven't actually notified us about this rise either. If it was just by the GST amount, they may not have to, but if it is a lot more, then I am sure they are required to let their customers know about price changes.

They're not forcing users on the current plans onto the new plans (at the moment) so there's nothing to inform existing users about.  Though I'm not quite sure what this means in terms of the GST rise?

Ok I see what you mean. That is odd though, because I have just logged in, and it is quoting additional data at $1.02 per GB, which is last month rate. So it doesn't appear they have updated their systems with the new GST rate, even though the new billing period does start today.

Hmm, odd.  Perhaps they are wearing the difference for the existing plans expecting most users to change to the 'cheaper' plans?  I guess more people will move to the replacement for the 'torrent' plan if it's as good as they say it will be!

I can see why your all saying that's more than a gst rise as what you've stated is definitely more than just a GST rise.

However for Torrent Plan users if data is now going to be charged at $1.28per gig (which you have to bear in mind for torrent plan users is only between 8am to 2am then thats a reduction of approx $0.26 cents per gig so that is good news for them and as promised a lower price.

Please bear in mind that the above statement is based on info from the previous posts only which is not actually accurate. The Torrent plan from the little i could gleem from their site is now showing peak data is charged at $1.53per gig where as previously it showed at $1.54 (and to be honest the amount for the calculation they use has not changed at all so i am thinking the 1 cent decrease is a change possibly to their rounding or even cosmetic to make the offering sound just that little bit better).

If your going to go waa waa you need to put all the info on here (unless i am misreading something in the previous posts). If they are not forcing existing customers on to the new plan (or plans) then no existing customer is actually worse off. Of course when they (assuming they will) put existing customers onto the new pricing that would suck for those not on the Torrent plan and it would suck even more if they totally get rid of the Torrent plan and the free off peak.

Lastly I have been over their website looking all over for any mention of $1.28per gig but can only find their estimation being $1.26per gig. Please make sure you put correct info in your posts as i knew absolutely nothing about new or potential new plans until reading this forum posting only to find some of the info inaccurate and misleading.

Has access plans changed in price? It would appear they are recovering the cost via increases to bandwidth rather than across the board on EVERY product

Traditionally XNet did not automatically change people over to new policies. For example if you are on the original plan where national data is free then you still get national data free (correct me if I'm wrong). Or if you got a free static IP then you still get a free static IP. It is only new customers who can not get free national data or free static IP. So unless XNet informed you then I can't see them changing existing customer's pricing without notice.

If I chance our Fusion plan to the new pricing then I'll be paying the same despite the GST increase (including GST increase on phone calls).

Not being informed in advance = no price change for existing customers other than GST. The last bill informed us there will be no freepost envelopes any more, nothing about plan price change so it is not (yet) happening for existing customers.

XNet's silence in this thread is wise, but clarification would be appreciated.

I just read through the XNet standard terms. I'm attempting to represent what I believe the contract says, not judge it. Hopefully we will not drag this out but rather get back to technical discussions.

"Our contract with you also includes our currently applicable price list. The price list may change from time to time, but we will notify you of any changes when they happen."

"Invoices and Notices
35. Where you have provided us with an email address, we will deliver our invoices
and any other notices to the most recent email address that you have given us."
It goes on to talk about paper notification etc.

No notice received so no price change for existing customers. However there is one line that says they can change the T&C on their web site, and it is the customer's responsibility to look at the web site for changes (#2). If the T&C are changed then after 7 days they assume you have accepted it. However the current T&C clearly states price changes will be notified and notification (for me at least) was not sent so I can assume no price change for my plan.

The announement on their webite does actually say they are raising their prices by 2.5% due to the GST increase, when infact the GST rise is only a 2.2 % rise. It is clearly written their on their website, unless they have changed it. Also for the plan I am on, the website clearly says the price of data is 1.28 per gig. Perhaps that only applies to new customers atm, but it is written there.

Robbyp, you have missed my point. The T&C states prices may change from time to time, but you will be notified. It appears no one were notified as per T&C item number 35 or 36 (per e-mail or post).

T&C item number 2 says (only) the T&C can change and will be notified only on-line, but this does not cover pricing. Item number 2 covers only T&C changes.

By the way, found a broken link in the T&C referring to http://www.xnet.co.nz/documents

I have read this a few places now, why are people saying the GST rise is only 2.2%? I would have thought 12.5 - 15 would add up to 2.5%.
