Are they on the site anywhere, if so I have gone blind. The following is from their site.

On the 1st of October however, WxC will launch a range of new products and services offering reduced prices. This includes calling plans, super caps, broadband services and our fantastic VoIP product range. You will not be automatically moved to the new services, however you are more than welcome to do so.

Holy craptastico Batman!  I just rang XNet to ask about the new plans and this is what they told me:

Basically there is now only one plan:  Full speed both ways for $39.95 per month and $1.28 per gig (all incl GST)!

All existing plans including the Torrent plan are no longer available!  Existing Torrent users will be able to stay on the plan.

I'm not sure how this works because there's no mention of naked DSL plans...

Apparently the website is going to be update at 3:15pm today (ie; now)

So basically XNet have said 'Prices are going up due to the GST rise, but don't worry, we're charging more for our data!' Undecided

Still there's a $10 discount for FS/FS plans users so that offsets the extra data charges (pays for the price rise 38gb worth of data, so if you use more than 38gb of data per month it'll cost you more...)

Update: Looks like the website was broken for a minute there, methinks someone broke it then rolled back to the original site content (can't see any changes yet).

Odd, can't edit my post now.

New website content is up! The Naked DSL page still has the torrent option showing tho.

Looks like naked DSL is now $64.95 and the same $1.28 per GB.

Welp, so much for data getting cheaper, it just got more expensive (went up more than the 2.2% GST increase)

Im on fusion (non-torrent). Are they just putting their prices up for everyone or just new users?

They are actually putting up their prices by more than the GST rise, as they state on their website that they are increasing prices by 2.5%. However the GST rise is just 2.2%. Yet they are blaming GST for the rise. Isn't that what the commerce commission were warning about, with companies increasing by more the the GST rate, and only blaming GST for the rise?

Not unless their accountants have got the announcement wrong, and it is inly increasing by the rate of the GST, which is 2.2%.

They're increasing the data from $1.02/GB up to $1.028/GB (both GST inclusive)
That's waay more than the GST increase.
If it was just GST, it would go from $1.02 to $1.05/GB.

They put Fusion down to $65/month, but if you use more than 19.2GB a month, it's going to cost you more.

OK, now im confused. They're offering "HSI" naked DSL for $65 + $1.28GB.. but Fusion Naked DSL is $70 + $1.26 GB....

Anyone from Xnet around to clarify?

That rate increase is more than the GST rise, yet they appear to be only blaming GST for the rise. I think they have got some explaining to do. I see consumer are asking people to report on companies onto their wall of shame, who are rising prices by more than the GST amount. http://www.consumer.org.nz/news/view/gst-wall-of-shame

Xnet definitely appear to be dropping the ball lately, these plan changes appear to be nothing more than an attempt to increase prices.

" WxC will launch a range of new products and services offering reduced prices" - one fixed plan where data is actually more expensive than before doesn't really count as "new products" and "reduced prices".

Argh, No...
I was going to move to the Torrent plan yesterday, but, I didn't as when I went to their website to look up the number to call to change I saw

"On the 1st of October however, WxC will launch a range of new products and services offering reduced prices. This includes calling plans, super caps, broadband services and our fantastic VoIP product range. "

So, I decided that I'd see what options were there. Obviously I'm a little disappointed now (though I still highly recommend their service).

Check out the price increase of the second vfx line...

Good news!! I spoke to XNet again about the Torrent plan details which are still on the website and the person I was speaking to said that they are definitely not offering the Torrent plan anymore, but were working on a new (better!) replacement for it, to be released (hopefully) within the next 2 months!

I'm looking forward to it already! :D

Mind you, with XNet's current version of 'better' meaning 'more expensive', I'm not sure what to expect Undecided
