you really need to contact voda and give them your modem stats and see what they have to say.

Your upload speed (160) appears to definitely be capped which is going to also result in slower download speeds.
With upload capped at 160 you will only be able to achieve adsl1 download speeds.

It's a basic pack, and I went over the data cap and opted to pay extra .

Looking at vodas website the basic internet connection has a capped speed
max download = 256 and max upload 128

This would explain the extreme slowness.

Was this not explained to you when you switched?
I'm surprised they try to call this a broadband plan cause the speeds I certainly wouldn't call broadband.

Looks like the only plan they have with uncapped speeds is the ultimate plan which cost $100 p/m

I would use this plan it is $10 more but is FS/FS http://www.vodafone.co.nz/home-phone-and-broadband/bundles/easy-pack.jsp also you can have a Sky HDi box rental included.

I aim to misbehave.

The above plan is what i have. but at $90 and i deem it very good value. I get consistant 7.6mb down and .450-.500mb up.
Im about 2.5 km from the exchange. Runs the standard Vodafone Huawei Adsl2+ modem...BUT Invers doesnt have ADSL2+ capability yet. Stink.
Fast enough for now.

I'm outside the red zone so won't get the maximum speeds though? I'm a bit confused by it all ...

you should get full speed because you are switching on to the plan.
The rider about not getting full speed is for those who are already on that plan. it states they will be moved to full speed/full speed over the next few weeks.

*The Max/Max speed outside the red network on the Easy Pack currently only applies to new customers signing up. Existing customers on the Easy Pack outside the red network will be migrated to Max/Max speed over the next few weeks, until then the plan speeds remain as Max/128kbps

OK - I'll check it out then thanks. Hopefully there won't be a charge to upgrade to that plan.

Many thanks.
