The V630 and K800 look like very impressive, particularly considering that they support the A2DP bluetooth profile. I'm willing to stand corrected but, to the best of my knowledge, even the Nokia 6680 and N70 don't support this.

You are correct.

Currently the only phones Vodafone sell that support A2DP are Motorola V3X and E770, Nokia 8800, and any Imate device with WinMob 5.0 and the latest patch.

There are more on the way though :)

SNicolle: I couldn't give you specific numbers regarding V800 stocks but there are definitely a few around and they on clearance at most retailers (DSE. Noel Leeming) The V630 looks like a decent handset essentially rebranding the v800/v600 feature set, I think off the top of my head it uses Sony's new M2 proprietry storage which is approx mini-sd/micro-sd size.

Any idea when the V630 will launch in NZ or whether we will have to wait until the launch of the Radio DJ service to see it in NZ?

Do you know if any of the successors to the N70 have this functionality? I'm really surprised that the N70 doesn't have it, because it seems to be a major drawback to what is otherwise a superb handset.

I don't have any inside information, but I doubt that Vodafone would unnecessarily delay the local release of the V630 considering that the V800 and V600 now appear to be end of life. Sony Ericsson's New Zealand web site currently has the V630 and K800 listed as 'coming soon'.

The i-mate devices with the current AKU2 do not support Bluetooth A2DP.

Arne (a Microsoft MVP Mobile Devices like myself, whom I've met before in Seattle) wrote a preview. When I was running the AKU2 beta on my i-mate it had the A2DP. But it was deemed to be of low performance, and causing problems for the normal device operation, so it was disabled on the final release.

On a JAMMin the A2DP used a lot of its CPU, and you could either play a song or use the PDA.

As Jeffthechef found it will work, but you have to hack the device, which is not always guaranteed to work - and most likely you will end up asking around "how do I do it" when it's time for another hard reset and the instructions are long forgotten.

Yeah admittedly, I've only used it a few times, but never really had a stereo headset paired whilst using other features of the device, its either been one or the other... will have a decent fiddle with it tonight :)
