johnr: Some nice changes are coming soon,

Please do not ask me what they are or I will be on the John Key Ski team

Ugh.

I'm glad and not glad I read that.

Glad because I was going to sign up for  the Smart 1 plan this coming week, and am now thinking of waiting til we see what the changes are.

Not glad cause I am getting my phone this week, and want to start using it asap... and we don't know when these changes will be announced. And there is no way I want to lock myself into a 24 month contract if something better is just around the corner.

You may actually find they are going to finalize an actual data upgrade for the smart phone plans instead of having it on a temporary offering... But then i wouldn't know. I don't work at Vodafone.

It's interesting you should say that... from what I was told by one of the ladies in the lower-Queen St. Vodafone store, the data upgrade was in place for the length of the 24 month contract.

But a friend who had rung their helpdesk got a different story.

Either way, I can wait. I still have some moola left on the pre-pay card I bought back when I was trialling a Samsung Galaxy S that my company owned; so I can use that.

Unfortunately, she's (she, being the lady from the store) wrong.
The 3GB is promotional - each plan comes with their own data block (some 250mb, depending on the plan you get)

So if Vodafone withdrew the promotion now, you'd be back on your contracted data package.

Definitely going to wait. Thanks for the heads up.

It's the 29th now, so, no.

Also increasing the allocated TXT's for the Smart Plans to bring them in line with prepay would be greatly appreciated.
