Anyone noticed this anomaly on the Vodafone web site.  If you go to vodafone.co.nz and bring up the Mobile/On Account/Smart Plans page, you will see they are offering on all the Smart plans (Smart1, Smart2, ... Smart5) 3GB of data and double minutes per month (shown in the right most column).  This offer has been shown for some time now, probably at least several weeks or more that I know of.

But if you go to the following page on their web site the data limits are for the same plans are severely curtailed at 250 MB, 250 MB, 250 MB, 500 MB and 1 GB respectively:

www.vodafone.co.nz/specials-promos/double-minutes-with-smart.jsp

So which one is for real?

the lower limits you are looking at (250MB etc) are the actual limits for the plans.

the 3GB limit is a promotion only. It has been going on for some time (about 18 months I think) and can be removed at any time both for new AND existing customers.

How soon is "soon" John? Are you at liberty to divulge that? :)

Nice changes???

I wonder what, but the sceptic in me thinks they are probably not as nice as the 3GB of data I currently enjoy for $40...

I got told in (end) April that they were bringing out the new plans/deals around 2 months from then.

I was also told to hold of on signing up some new double minutes smart plan contracts as I would pleasantly surprised.

The 3GB has been great but I think even a third or half of that would do 90% of the customers. The heaviest usage month I have had was when I spent a week in Wanaka and used the plan in a Nokia 5800 tethered to my laptop.

Used about 1.5GB for the month. Normal monthly usage is about 300-400mb.

Sure, for lots of users less will be perfectly adequate, just not for me. Naturally I care far less about others needs than my own (in this case at any rate).

I guess if speeds keep increasing and you have a reliable connection it could feasibly replace an adsl connection in the future. Then 3GB would seem miniscule I suppose.

Haha, i only read of the June release potential last night, that said when does NZ get same handset release dates as US? Or am i off track?

Another point to ponder would new plans possible signal the rug about to get pulled on the current 3gb/mth promo on current smart plans?

I don't think the 3 GB promo is going to be chopped with this new announcement as it was mentioned that they would give 30 days notice of it ending. That hasn't happened yet.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.
