as far as i know its not the app but rather your facebook account settings. if u browsing facebook on your pc and the address bar shows https then encryption is on and it will be the same for the app on your mobile. and you therefore billed.

definitely misleading.. As stated previously vodafone needs to update their T&C's to reflect all of this.

So John we've checked again using the data usage spreadsheet Vodafone supplied to my wife. After your change the chargeable component has dropped significantly, however there's still a billable entry at exactly the same time she accesses Facebook using the Facebook for Android app. It certainly still looks like some Facebook traffic is not getting correctly identified.

Just to be clear she's not accessing external content/links from within, just checking status, posting updates, looking at photo's people have uploaded to Facebook (no external links to Youtube, etc)

15/07/2011 12:29 WEB - Facebook 1,386.99
15/07/2011 12:29 Off-net WEB Traffic 439.36

With the web browser she also still gets some off-net usage recorded too but assume it's from external advertising etc. 15M Facebook traffic on the browser and 762kb off-net according to the billing records.

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

This is good news.

But how are we suppose to validate the binning if you on prepaid?

Its seriously about time that Vodafone offered online statements/billing information for prepaid customers.

The Page I looked at was http://www.vodafone.co.nz/specials-promos/nonstop/nonstop-facebook-and-twitter.pdf

Under Unmetered it says ...

Posting Status Updates
• Reading News Feeds (as long as no
external links, such as YouTube,
are clicked to view the content)
• All actions for Photos
(i.e. loading and viewing)
• All actions for Comments
• Setting up Events (including inviting
people and RSVPing)
• All actions for Profile/Group/Fan pages
• All actions for Personal Messages
(i.e. reading and sending messages)
• All actions for Chat
Access via the following applications
Facebook for Nokia
Facebook for Android
Facebook for iPhone
• Access to Facebook Mobi site and full sit

It certainly pays to have the T&Cs/web page up in front of you when ringing the Vodafone help desk. Most of the L1 help desk people seem very clueless and very often tell you the complete opposite of what's actually printed on the Vodafone web site.

My wife got told quite adamantly by the service agent that 'viewing, uploading or downloading photo's was not free for Facebook'. Another time it was 'we don't have that plan any more' followed by 'oh' when shown the web page.

Have not done a duck in anyway thanks, I worked most of the weekend on planned work

I can't sit here 24/7 watching every single thread for updates and what is going on, Further to this I am not paid for the work I do on Geekzone and comments like this are not called for.

So any idea as to when Vodafone is going to fix this issue then?

Seems quiet serious as a lot of people have/are being billed incorrectly.

Thanks to you been so rude and your rude reply could not even say sorry I have no more value to add,

This is why official people that can do something will steer away cause of users like yourself

Before anyone tries to take a shot at JohnR, he, as all other company reps here, are under no obligation to answer any of your queries or help you out.  They do it because they want to help out the community here.

An alternative to try will be to contact Vodafone through their official support channels.
