Ragnor: $5 on it being Slingshot shaping/traffic management/proxy issue....

Yes I'm sorry, but I don't quite follow what's going on here.

Is the OP a TelstraClear cable or dsl customer, or are they just moaning they're getting a problem and the content is hosted on servers feed to him via TelstraClear?

I'd like to see some traceroute prints to explain what the go is.

Ragnor that was my very next question, given that the problem happens later in the peace, is it a tracked connection management issue?

My routers can slow traffic based on counters on connections.  So as the download gets bigger it slows down.

It looks like it could be.

I'm also on Slingshot and can't get TV3Ondemand to play at all. The ad plays fine, but after that the video just sits at the bitrate selection screen saying that there is an issue with the video.

TVNZ OnDemand plays fine however.

Tested on both Firefox 6 and Chrome 13.

The OP is on Slingshot and 2degrees sometimes. He's not with TelstraClear, only the content is hosted with TelstraClear.

Thanks FM. so we've fairly much ruled out that this is a telstra issue then, but more likely a local or isp issue.

That was my guess aswell. Slingshot will tell him that its TCL's fault.. And the blame game starts.

Hi all,

We've worked with Mediaworks and investigated this.

As many of you have suspected, the issue appears to be with the OP's ISP. The TelstraClear network and Mediaworks systems continue to operate as they should.

This is the same issue as per the Singshot thread in the other forum.

But, By only using connectivity between TelstraClear and Mediaworks as your test environment you havn't really troubleshootda nything.

TelstracClear runs the content service and mediaworks is the television network which the content integrates to their website with.....

But The test is only a test if done from external networks.... AFAIK even Telstra residential customers would most likely take a more direct route to the content than the generic user connecting from Xtra or Slingshot or Xnet or whatever. Unless you test from those - then no test.

Didn't the other thread establish that a certain range of Slingshot users were having routing issues to the server delivering the streaming content.

Whether this was at Telstraclear's end or Slingshots wasn't confirmed.

Hi everyone,

Our network and the TV3 services continue to perform as expected. Any issues being experienced are outside our network and users will need to contact their own ISPs.

Cheers, Gary

Edit: this older thread referring to an issue with Flash settings may be helpful: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=90&topicid=66782
