Thanks for your responses.

Hmmm - so I should change to a personal plan?

So my gripe is that is a cable that runs to my office - why would they mess with such a good service? It has always been cable -  clothed, naked or otherwise! And now they are telling me I need a phone rental as well. That is soooo last century.

It seems a little short sighted to insist on the phone line - they could just charge extra. I would be fine with that but $40 bucks for a phone line I don't want is a little silly and has me looking at other options.

Why would they do it? Is it because the general public in NZ expect internet over / with phone now so they can say its 'naked'? Or are they worried about the fact that telecom is ahead of them with the ultra fast broadband stuff so they are trying to get extra revenue? If they had focused on their once core business of rolling out cable internet they would be in a stronger position I reckon.. anyways I just bummed my nice reliable internet connection has to be ditched because of this policy.

Not sure when their policy would have changed to only sell bundles on some plans/services but it would have involved bean counters.

"If" if is cable then you are able to get Broadband without a phoneline as long as you have 20gb or higher.
Sounds like a bit of bad communication in this case...

The service description for BizBroadband says otherwise?

Clause 1.2

BizBroadband / BizNet are only available to business customers with a TelstraClear phone line and calling plan, and are subject to availability.

Ahh , that was never said .. Yes that is correct , Res allows no phone but biz must have phone.

Seems pretty silly though to do this to an existing customer.

Just sign up for a plan change online, then they can't try and convince you to pay for a phone line!
