And confirmed in practise too. Purchased 1x Nokia C2-01 phone for $109 at Noel Leemings and reception has improved dramatically at their location. Much thanks to Johnr for your knowledge and input on this.
Key point for anyone else reading this is that calls/text can be made over 3G/3G extended bands as well as the basic 2G band. To utilise this your handset must be capable of both 2100/900MHz reception. Depending on why you are looking at a Surecell device, it may pay to check the coverage of all Vodafone bands in your location and consider upgrading your handset to a more capable unit if required.
